New Year Resolutions

I'm sure you thought that when you would click on this post there would be the average and cliché list of "My New Year Resolutions" including one about losing weight, doing better at uni, keeping in contact with my friends blah blah blah etc etc. Last year I wrote up a few 'New Years Resolutions' in a diary of mine and I've decided this year that screw the resolutions. Excuse my language. Every year I write the same posts about how it would be really great to stop gaining the pounds that inevitably I will not lose and how I should drink more water to hydrate myself.

I've decided this year I'm not writing resolutions but instead am just going to let myself do whatever in 2016. I will "lose" the Christmas weight if I want to. Not because I've written it up somewhere for the world to see. What's the likely hood of me "loving myself more" ugrh please - I should be doing that anyways! Keeping in contact with friends? Well, maybe we were meant to grow apart? Maybe they are only going to be those friends that you see once a year. That's okay too. Don't get me wrong, I totally respect you if you write a New Years Resolution post, because some people stick to them and enjoy them. For me, it's almost a reminder of the failures I didn't complete in 2015.

In all fairness in my 2015 resolutions I did say I wanted to travel the U.S and complete a major project on my internship, and yes I did complete that so whoop for me. But this year, it's more about a personal accomplishment rather than the satisfaction of crossing off a list. So 2016, I'm not making any plans for you and I will take whatever you throw at me. Hey, it couldn't have been any worse than 2015 which really gave me a run for my money.

Happy 2016 everyone, here's to another year! So do you have any resolutions?

  1. I did exactly the same thing this year too! I'm always making the same resolutions about losing weight, getting fit, eating better etc etc and do I do it? Nope! Xx

  2. I think this is a great way to think - New year doesn't mean new self, it's just a New start for a day or two and then back to normal - and that's okay! I have no goals really - but I do have things I want to do and things I'd like to do more of and spend more time with!

  3. I really enjoyed this post! I think people can get way too caught up in what they think they should be doing. It sounds like you'll have a much better year with this frame of mind. Happy New Year!

  4. Right frame of mind - I stand behind that 100%! You can't possibly know what the new year will throw at you along the way, so it's better to know in your heart what you want to do for yourself, keeping in mind nothing bad will come from not fulfilling them.

    1. Thank you Marina for reading! Who knows, maybe I'll get a really hot fitness instructor and he'll make me suddenly lose weight as I'll want to go to the gym more! You never know ;) xx

    2. Oops I use my MAC MSF everyday in Soft and Gentle!
I can get it work if I use a soft fluffy eyeshadow brush on the high points of my face :)
