Testing Out The Testers

Testers have to be the best freebies in existence. They give you that opportunity to try out new products and figuring out whether your skin loves it or whether they make you break out in a horrendous rash, all without spending a fortune on the full sized product. I've been trying to clear away a couple of my tester products that I've been hoarding I thought I'd let you know how I got on with them.

Firstly was the set of Arbonne Skincare 'Calm' Products* from their calm collection. Maimie Yelland ( ID: 441297742) from the team kindly sent these along to me to try out and after having a mini consultation on what my skin type is (overly dry and sensitive) they sent along a Moisturizer, Primer, Cleanser, Soothing Eye Gel and the Serum. Now Arbonne isn't the cheapest of products, so I was happy to receive a sample to figure out whether or not they worked for my skin. Now sadly, these just didn't do any wonders to my skin. I managed to get around a week and a bits worth of product from these tubes, so have completely mixed up my skincare routine to only include these products to see the full effect.

The moisturizer I felt didn't really give my skin any hydration and just kept wanting to add more and more onto my skin as it really just sucked it up. The full-sized product has quite a hefty price tag of £27, and for me I feel as if some of my other drugstore moisturizers actually work a lot better.  The primer I didn't think actually made my makeup stay any longer, although I have to say, I quite liked the consistency of it as it wasn't at all silicone-y, but it just didn't have a wow effect. The one product I did really like though was the cleanser. I find a lot of cleansers very oily and heavy but this cleanser really broke down the makeup on my skin and left it feeling very clean, something I was quite impressed with.

I've been wanting to get my hands on the Kiehl's Hydro-plumping Re-Texturing Serum Concentrate for quite a while now, but with another hefty price tag, I thought it was best to give it a sample-go beforehand. Unfortunately this product broke me out. Which is totally weird because a lot of my skincare products are from Kiehl's and have never broken me out before. I was truly bummed because it did make my skin a little less dry as it helped soak in the moisturizer more and made my skin feel soft, minus the acne. That sucked.

Next was the NUXE Prodigieux Body Lotion. As someone with dry skin I am all up for trying out different body lotions and seeing if they can make a good impact on my skin. Now I usually deter away from perfumed body lotions as my sensitive skin isn't usually a fan. I loved the scent of this product, it actually reminded me of my Mum, so she must use some sort of NUXE products, but I yet again, I didn't see any 'wow' effect. I guess with body lotion you need to have a bigger sample to really see if over time this product works for you. Would I purchase the big bottle? Probs not.

Ugrh it's not been a great start to this tester post to be honest with you. You know what's even more hilarious then getting a tester that you hate, getting a tester that's for a man. Not much more I can say about the Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Eau de Toilette aftershave for myself, but girls if you're looking for a manly scent to buy your boyfriend/husband I actually really like this. Shame I can't wear it myself. Thank you FeelUnique though for reminding me that I'm forever lonely and single though!

Lastly is another moisturizer, the Lush Cosmetics Gorgeous Facial Moisturizer. Now as we all know I am an avid Lush fan, always praising them. Though I'm just not impressed this time. I hate this post to be such a debbie downer, but I was neither impressed by this moisturizer. I personally wasn't a fan of the scent, and it just didn't feel as if it had moisturized my skin at all. I know that online everyone raves about how good this is for people with dry skin, but it just didn't work on mine, the struggles hey?

So there we have it, quite an unsuccessful testing out testers post! I know I'm usually quite an upbeat person talking about all the things that work with my skin, but these testers just didn't do it for me. But I have to remember, everyones skin works differently and something that may have not worked for me, may work for you! Let me know if any of these products worked for you and even if they are your holy grail would love to know!

    1. I bet it is, as I've only tried one of the products I wasn't a fan, but am always up for trying more! xx

  4. I love testers! Even if you don't end up liking them you haven't wasted money on the product so it's a good, cheap way to find what works for you. I've been looking for a cleanser that gets rid of my make-up without drying me out so that Arbonne cleanser sounds nice! x

  6. Testers are the BEST! And purely for this reason, can you imagine buying any of these products in the full size and THEN realising they don't work :'( but thankfully, you didn't and now you know you won't and can spend that money on much more deserving products! :)

    1. I know, especially some of the Arbonne ones, although the cleanser was great, the price tags are painful and wouldn't have been impressed! xx
