Life Lately

I honest cannot remember the last time I wrote a life lately post, oh wait, turns out it was in March. Oopsie. A lot has happened since then. I mean a lot. First of all, I've finished university. On the 24th of May, I handed in my last two assignments EVER, and I've never felt more disorientated in my life. Like that is it. I will never have to write another essay again, that's one scary thought. As I didn't have exams (media degree and all that) I couldn't really celebrate the fact that I was done with University with anyone. I don't 'officially' graduate until the ceremony on July 15th, but with my dissertation grade back, at least I know I will be graduating for sure so woooo.

Regardless of the fact that I've technically finished university, my parents wouldn't let me get away with just chilling around for a couple of months now would they? So I signed up for some Spanish classes, which I have to say, I've really been loving. Although they finish soon, I'm going to try and find another evening class for when I begin work as I'm really passionate about being able to speak three languages in a high conversational manner, cuz I'm really cool like that.

Oh the fact that I've got a job. *popping of party poppers* - you're looking at the new PR Coordinator for an amazing entertainment company. I've literally never been more excited in my life. This is exactly the role and company I wanted to work for, as I spent my industrial placement year working for them. It's incredible to have been given the opportunity to work so quickly out of university. Although I have to say, it's going to be hard. It's been so lovely to see my old team mates, I've missed them loads from my placement year. An even funnier story, on my first day, I quickly popped into the Starbucks I used to go to all the time during my placement year, and the guy who works there was like "Caroline!! You're back!", it's been a whole year since I've been there, I was in hysterical laughter haha!

I don't know where I'm going to find the time to blog during the week and take photos as I'll be commuting from Guildford into London for the first couple of weeks until I find somewhere to live, and if I haven't found anywhere by then my lovely Aunt has told me I am always welcome there. So please bare with me whilst I try and get scheduling my new life out. It's going to be difficult I think. If I haven't written a blog post for that day, usually I am at home, lecture-free, and can just whip out my camera. Now with a 9-6 job, I'll miss the daylight, and also means I'm going to have to plan my blog posts on the weekends, and take all my blog photography, stress hey? I would love to know if any of you have any tips on what it's like to work full-time and blog on the side, and any tips!

When it comes to friendships, I feel like leaving university has kind of been the test of times for me. When starting at Surrey, I never knew that this would be the University where I make some incredible friends. Some that have lasted for a couple of years, and some for the whole duration, and who will stay with me for a long time. I've lost touch with a lot of my friends back home in Zurich from high school, and I think that's definitely going to show more as I've started to build my life in the UK. I've also become distant from my best friend at university this year. I think we are just going in different directions in life, with relationships, moving away and starting new jobs, that we just haven't been as close as we were. I talked about how I feared I was losing her a couple of months ago, and sadly it's really gotten to the point where I just don't feel as if we will be that close when we start work. It's going to be hard being away from my parents and my brother, oh and my cats who are all working and living in Zurich, but I'm fortunate enough that they do come to the UK to visit quite often. I'm very lucky that I do have some friends at university who I can imagine that I'm going to keep in contact with for a very long time.

I've also started to give my life a bit of a clear-out recently. I've accumulated a lot of cr*p during my university years, like seriously, do I need anymore "free t-shirts" that I just use for pyjama tops? I've given away a lot of books, tops I don't wear anymore and just general bits and bobs to the British Heart Foundation. I feel like decluttering my old life is really important, especially if I'm going to be moving into London where we all know I'll be paying extortionate prices for a cupboard of a room. Also I think it's great to support a charity and do my part, especially with things I just don't need. So in prep for that, all those tote bags, old university assignments and costumes have to go!

So that's really a little update of what's been happening recently. It's definitely a crazy transitioning period for me. Let alone trying to educate myself on the EU referendum (which I all encourage you to vote in). Sorry I just don't switch off and sorry for the insanely long blog post. Probs like no one actually cares. But there we have it! I would love for you to send me along any life lately blog posts, feel like I can learn so much about the blogging community through them!

  1. Ahhh Caroline I'm so happy everything is working out for you! It's kinda weird, you're like 4 years ahead of me because I'm starting uni in September to do marketing, then I'll have an industrial placement year as well! In terms of blogging + a full time job (it's what I do now) I feel like you have to schedule posts (or at least I do) because by the time you get home the light has gone and I'm always so tired! I usually write like 3-4 posts at the weekend and then post them gradually throughout the week. It's not easy I won't lie hahaha xxx

  7. Congratulations on finishing your degree and your new job! What's even better is it's a job with a company that you wanted, that's brilliant and not everyone has that opportunity. Looks like lots are going on with your life, I wish you all the best.
