Lush Cosmetics Brazened Honey Mask Review

It had been a long while since I'd been to Lush and picked up a face mask, I'm one of those people who would rather just buy the 99p ones from Superdrug and get on with it. However I thought I would do a bit more of a skincare switch-up and the best way to start is always with a new face mask. I went into the Lush shop and kind of went in there with no real clue with what mask to get. A lot of people had suggested Oatifix, which I had annoyingly got and left at my aunts before even using it. Bummer. So I went into the shop and annoyingly, the Oatifix was sold out. Along with my Buffy bar that I was meant to pick up too. Wah. Any way, the woman at the stand suggested the Lush Brazened Honey Mask and I've been using it for a couple of times a week now, have used it probably 6-8 times in total so thought I would give you a little review.

Let's start with the packaging. The fresh face masks come in a small 75g tub and it costs £6.95, which in hindsight, I kind of winced at but truth be told, I've used it loads and it's actually worth the money in the pot. The one thing I have to say is that, because it's a fresh mask, you have to remember to keep it in the fridge, which is actually a real pain. I was constantly forgetting to pop it back in there after using it and was so worried it would "go-off" but to be honest, I completely ignored that and kept using it. The product itself smells very musty, probably because of the mixture of ginger and honey, which is neither unpleasant but also not my most favourite scent of all.

Onto the product itself, girls with dry skin, this is a massive no product. I was absolutely gutted that the woman had suggested to use this face mask, even though I had told her my skin type (dry) and she had told me it would be great for it. Weird considering even on the website it's advertised as a product to help oily skin. Although my skin felt very smooth and it did help bring down this lovely spot that had gathered on the left side of my chin, my skin felt so parched. You know that moment, once you come out of the shower and you feel as if you need to drench your entire face in moisturiser? That's how I felt post this - which is not what you want after a face mask at all. weird. So I'm not quite sure how I feel about this mask. I love it because it exfoliated my face, brought down the blotchy redness of my cheeks and calmed down my chin-best friend, but unfortunately it wasn't moisturising at all.

So to anyone who works at Lush, or who used to work there, or any other bloggers with dry skin, what face mask do you recommend to really give me that surge of moisture because the brazened honey one, unfortunately does not.

  1. I have oily skin so adore cupcake and love lettuce, however I did buy oatflix for my friend with dry skin, which I would definitely repurchase if I was you as it is specifically for dry skin. Such bad luck to buy it and never even have the chance to use it! :(

  2. Oh wow, that SA is not well informed at all, that's really terrible for her to suggest you a face mask that is not suitable for your skin! The only face mask that I have tried from Lush which I absolutely love is The Sacred Truth, I am dry skin too and it really softens and hydrates my face.

  3. I love honey and ginger scents but I also have dry skin so this probably wouldn't work for me, either. Thanks for the honest review! x

  4. Ah it sounds lovely, but it's a shame it doesn't deliver. I would wholeheartedly recommend the new Vichy Mineral Mask it's the best hydrating mask i've ever tried xx
