Brand in the Spotlight: Makeup Revolution

A brand in the spotlight I've been wanting to do for an absolute age is Makeup Revolution. Makeup Revolution is a much aclaimed drugstore brand for it's high quality and pigmentation (well acclaimed by me). I mainly find the brand at Superdrug stores and have hauled quite a lovely collection. For those wondering, it's also a cruelty free brand!

I would have to firstly start with palettes. I reckon their face and eye palettes are the most popular and you can see why. Their eyeshadow palettes usually range between £4-£8 and are some of the most pigmented I've tried. I've owned a few of the Iconic Palettes before, but unfortunately due to the numerous moves they smashed, but for now I own the Ultra 32 Shade Eyeshadow Palette  which is so well loved that it appeared in my "Favourite under £10 Drugstore Beauty Products" blog post. As you can tell from the swatches, these shadows are highly pigmented. Although you may not use all the colours in a large eyeshadow palette like this, and the individual pans are small, if you're just looking to get into makeup, this brand is incredible. Their face palettes deserve a mention too. My  Revolution Ultra Blush Palette 'Golden Sugar'  is a definite gem in the collection. If you're someone who'se wanting to get into contouring and wants to bag a bang for their  buck, where you get numerous contour, highlight and blush shades in one this is for you! Like I said, their pigmentation is just as incredible as the eyeshadows. I have to say, I find that their palette packaging is quite sturdy, and although plastic, they usually come with great sized mirrors and are sleek, perfect for travelling.

Other individual face products include something from the I Heart Makeup brand. Now I can't find out, bad blogger here whether or not this is like a sister-brand/sister-company or a sub-brand of Makeup Revolution, but I Heart Makeup features on the online MUR store. Let me know in the comments what exactly the relation is! I literally couldn't find it anywhere! The I Heart Makeup range definitely is the most notorious for their dupe of the Too Faced Chocolate Palette called I Heart Chocolate. Although I don't own it, something I do own which is very similar to the Too Faced Blushers are the I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts collection. This features bronzers, highlighters and blushers which are always sold out and for good reason. I've previously owned one (another smashed product during a move) and repurchased the 'I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts Peachy-Keen' product. These are incredibly pigmented, so beautiful and just phwoar. Quality.
The Makeup Revolution Vivid Highlighter in Golden Lights was definitely a hyped up highlighter a couple of months ago. I remember seeing some of these swatches and being mesmerized. Literally the only way I can describe MUR products is pigmentation, pigmentation, pigmentation. I have quite a few higher end highlighters, and this definitely packs more of a punch in terms of pigmentation than some of those. Although it can be a bit powdery, if you use a fan brush, it picks up and distributes/blends the product a lot better. On the same £3 trend for face products is the MUR Bronzer - I picked this up before having the Urban Decay one as I was desperate for a matte finished bronzer. Although this can be a little bit powdery, it's an amazingly good quality bronzer without being overly brown or ashey toned. It's pan is immensely big, a lot of product for your money and I'm really impressed with it.

Although I have to say, I love Makeup Revolution's face products, I'm going to have to say, I'm not too big of a fan of their lip products shock horror! I picked up the I Heart Makeup Lip Geek Lipstick  'Lips Won't Lie' and although I know I picked up a sheer nude, I'm not so impressed with the lasting power or pigmentation. I have a few other sheer lip products that do pack some more pigmentation, so this was a let down. I was also not too impressed with their Salvation Lip Laquer in 'What I believe'  - quite drying and to be honest flakey.

So my advice, 100% head to your Superdrug that stocks MUR, and get your hands on the eyeshadows and face products by both MUR and I Heart Makeup. I'm yet to be impressed by lip products, but let me know if you love any MUR lip products and leave them in the comments!
