My 'Out There' Lip Products

I'ts very rare that I stray away from my nude lipsticks and venture into wearing a bold lip. I feel like there is a lot of effort involved in wearing a bold lip. Firstly, I can't wear too bold of an outfit. Secondly, how much food will I be consuming during the day? Will I remember to bring my lipstick with me? Do I own a lip liner to match? Decisions, decisions. That being said, I do own quite a few, well what I would consider, "out there" lip products. Although I admittingly, don't wear these very often, I thought this blog post would be great for those who do like to venture into brighter or darker lip products!

Firstly is my Nars Steven Klein Limited Edition  Lipgloss 'Provoke'* This is definitely one of those products that I will really only bring out in Autumn, doesnt exactly scream Summer does it? Now I have to be honest, as this was sent to me, it's not really like I would pick it up in store to wear. It truly is a little bit too bold for me. However, saying that, I have worn it a couple of times. I'm not a fan really of purple lips or lipgloss and my thoughts are, if you're going to have a dark lip, it's better being matte and full coverage. It's quite a sticky consistency for a lipgloss, and I'm not a fan of the applicator as it's more of a tiny pointed brush rather than a doe-foot applicator. Personally, this is one of my out there lip products that I like the least, but regardless thought I'd share! Let me know if the other Nars lipglosses are the same!

Then comes my Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream 'Cherish'. Now I did a whole run down on the nitty-gritty of drugstore lipsticks here. This is an extremely bright fuchsia pink liquid lipstick, that has very full coverage. Although can be drying, it is a lovely bright lipstick that if worn on holiday with a nice white sundress or basic outfit, can really add some colour. I love the applicator of this product, it's a lot nicer than the brush tip Nars one, as it's a bit sturdier to apply the product.

Then comes my Mac lipsticks. Now for me, a red lipstick isn't technically a bold lip for me, but kind of a bit of a staple? What I would consider a "out there" lip product, is anything bright. Firstly is 'Style Approved' a sheen orange/coral under-toned lipstick. To be honest with you, unless I'm tanned, this lipstick makes me look a little bit ill. But hand me 2 weeks in Spain, a white lace dress and some strappy sandals, paired with this lipstick and you've got yourself that perfect "out for dinner enjoying my holiday ha ha all you people stuck in work" look. Yeah you know the look I mean. When I am on holiday, especially in hot countries, I don't particularly like wearing matte lipstick, I find them a bit drying and just not comfortable, so this is why I adore this formula!

My boldest "darker" pink toned lipstick is 'Speak Louder' which featured in my June favourites blog post, I adore this lipstick because it's a lovely moisturising go-to bright pink shade. Like I said with the Milani one, it can be drying, so although this may not be as high coverage, if worn with a lipliner of a similar colour underneath, it's very creamy and because it is a cremesheen, and therefore sheer, it's not as long lasting, but a lot more comfortable to wear.

Next of course are two of my Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks. If you're a regular reader you know I'm an avid lover of the Rimmel Kate Moss formulas. They are one of the best drugstore lipstick formulas I've tried, very long lasting and comfortable. Firstly is the scarily bright purple lipstick which is Kate Moss '35''. I would describe this as a pink/blue undertoned purple lipstick as it definitely lies on more of the 'cool' side rather than being a warm toned purple. This is another one of those lipstick that I guess isn't for everyone, but if you're feeling daring (which I only do on holiday somewhere) I love pairing this with a simplistic outfit, like a black bodycon dress!

Lastly is the Rimmel Kate Moss '110' a bright neon coral/orange lipstick. This is a completely matte formula, and I think this is more of a matte formula than some of the Mac matte lipsticks. There is literally zero sheen to this lipstick, which although does mean you have to be careful during the day that you don't get those crumbly bits how gross are those  it's still one of my favourite bright lipsticks. I would have to say this is probably my third favourite in terms of formula and colour after Speak Louder and Style Approved!

Left to right: Nars 'Provoke', Rimmel Kate Moss '35',  Rimmel Kate Moss '110', Mac 'Style Approved', Mac ' Speak Louder' & Milani Liquid Lipstick 'Cherish'

  3. 110 is one of my favorites! I love the MAC shade as well. I usually only wear bold colors in the summer and dark colors in autumn/winter, but I'm going to try to switch it up this year.

  9. Such a shame about the NARS gloss. I actually like the look of the shade though. For If i want a bold lip I tend to find glosses better. Although I did pick one of the new Urban Decay lipsticks in the shade Temper which is bold orangey red, which I quite enjoying! xx

  13. Haha, I think all my lip products are considered "out there"! I typically don't go for nude shades because my lips are typically really pigmented and dark, so nude colors tend to wash me out. I'm not sure if it's considered a nude shade because it's a little darker, but I've been really loving the NXY Liquid Suede Creme Lipstick in Sandstorm :)
