4 Drugstore Foundations

I'm going to be frank with you, I'm a die hard drugstore foundation kind of girl. I use foundation everyday and therefore higher end ones are too expensive for me to be repurchasing them at the rate I go through them. Usually I'm someone who buys a foundation, wears it and repurchases it without trying out anything else. However recently I've been trying to get out of the habit of doing that and trying to try new foundations from the drugstore.

1. The 'No Makeup Foundation' - I've talked about the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum on my blog many times. This is the lightest coverage foundation I have ever owned (not including BB/CC creams etc) and I think will be a firm favourite of mine. It's a weird gel-like formula and consistency which is perfect for anyone with dry skin. It sinks into your skin beautifully and I would call this my 'go-to' Spring/Summer foundation for when I'm going out in the evenings (I don't tend to wear foundation on holiday). I picked up the lightest shade for when I was going through a 'no makeup' phase during the winter, but I will for sure pick up a darker shade for when I finally see some sun! I would highly recommend this to anyone with dry skin who also loves a light weight foundation!

2. The 'Everyday Foundation' - On a day-to-day basis I tend to like wearing a medium coverage foundation. I personally hate my uneven skin tone due to my freckles and red cheeks, (and yes I don't like my freckles) so the Rimmel Match Perfection came into my life and made it's way to becoming my everyday foundation. It blends nicely into my skin, doesn't leave streaky marks and more importantly, doesn't emphasize any of my dry patches. My one gripe is, recently it's starting to become very patchy on my nose, which is becoming my 'problem area' as it just separates and leaves my face looking really untidy. Any tips would be amazing!

3. The 'Night Out Foundation' - I knew when I first tried the Vichy Dermablend Foundation* a while ago that it would only be brought out on special occasions. For example, some nights out, I like to use my Rimmel one, but others when I'm going particularly full-glam, I want full coverage and use this. I have to say this has to be one of my favourite full-coverage foundations I've tried. It takes a little while to work into the skin, so I would highly recommend a damp beauty blender but leaves you with such a gorgeous finish which is a little on the matte side, but without being fully-2D matte. A grip I have with drugstore foundations is the shade range, the shade range in this fricking sucks.

4. The 'Glowy/Dewy Foundation' - I picked the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation after becoming a little bored of the Match Perfection one in hopes that it would relieve my problems of the patchy nose. Unfortunately I decided that because surely it was the same brand, the foundation shade in Match Perfection would be the same. As you can tell from the swatch, it is not. Look. How. Orange. It. Is. I tried it out regardless, wasn't particularly 'wowed' in any ways and resembled an oompa loompa and this has now found a better home in my flatmates foundation collection. To me it is much dewier and glowy than match perfection, but here's a warning, don't be too presumptuous on the shade range (which also sucks at Rimmel

  1. I think Vichy Dermablend would work best for me, I've heard so many people rave about it but I haven't taken the plunge just yet. It's definitely the next foundation I need to try, like you mentioned the shade range is something that has been putting me off!

  4. I'm exactly the same, I save my higher end one for a night out haha. I've tried the wake me up foundation before and it was really good. I'm a sucker for Revlon Colourstay at the moment it's so perfect for my combo skin. Loved this post so much!

  6. I'm a high end foundation snob! I've fallen in love with estee lauder double wear and nars sheer glow and nothing seems to compare! But I am loving Revlon Colourstay for everyday use lately! I've heard using an eye primer/cream base on the end of the nose keeps makeup intact! x

  7. I really want to try those two Rimmel foundations, I've heard amazing things about the Wake Me Up! I've only seen it online so I'm hesitant to order it, especially if the shade range isn't continuous with their other foundations. x

  8. I live by my drugstore foundations! I used to love the wake me up foundation but I think it's a bit too dewy for me now. xx

  9. I really love Rimmel foundations but they really need to sort their shade selections out! I've tried 3 or 4 of them and they've all been completely different shades! I actually really like Lasting Perfection from Rimmel. I must try Match Perfection again as it's been ages since I used that!

  12. I love Bourjois Healthy Mix for when my skin is behaving a bit better (I have to stick with my Estee Lauder double wear when it's rebellious!) and I'm really lucky that the lightest shade matches my skin tone well, because often with drugstore foundations the lighter shades are too pink for me :(

  13. I used the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation a few years ago and I really loved it, it looked very glowy yet natural. I use a MAC foundation now but I am actually thinking of using a drugstore one for every day wear! x

  16. I didn't get on with Wake Me Up either, everyone else used to rave about it and I was so excited to try it, but it was way to orange for me! I've been meaning to give Match Perfection a go, I think I'm going to like it for everyday too!

  17. I have only tried the Healthy Mix Powder from Bourjois and I love it. I want to try the foundation but they don't sell it where I live so it's a little hard to pick a shade online x
