10 Things in Prague

If you didn't know, last weekend I spent a long-weekend in Prague and I fell so deeply in love with the city. Prague has so much culture whilst at the same time, don't be surprised when you see a load of men wearing bikinis and tutus on your flight - it's pretty much a hen and stag-do heaven.

I thought I would share with you a couple of my favourite places I saw and visited over the three days!

1. Of course the first place and one of the most well known is the Prague Castle. This castle not only has one of the most impressive cathedrals I've seen (St. Vitus Cathedral) but is just all around a great way to spend the afternoon. You have to pay a small fee to buy a ticket to be able to enter the individual locations in the palace, but trust me it's so worth it! Make sure to also capture the beautiful panoramic view from the castle of the entire city.

2. The quaint Golden Lanes are included your ticket to visit the Prague Castle but I have to say this deserves it's own mention. I wouldn't necessarily purchase a ticket just to see the Golden Lanes (you're better off buying the ticket for the entire place), but as it is included, it's worth a visit. The cute little houses are open as either shops and a couple of them re-furnished to show what they used to look like in the medieval times.

3. Restaurant Mlejnice of course has to go on my list as I had the tastiest goulash (in a bread roll of course) in existence. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was incredible and the wine, is oh so very cheap (just a little bonus). Don't forget to try the Gnocchi as well!

4. We had such amazing weather the entire time in Prague so it called for ice cream everyday and I have to say Puro Gelato became our local very quickly....the salted caramel and stracciatella ice cream was immense and it only cost £2.20 for 2 scoops (tell me where you would find somewhere like that in central London?!

5. You can't go to Prague without visiting the famous Charles Bridge. The Charles bridge is not only a beautiful structure but also has so much history to it. It crosses the river Vltava and is the easiest way to go from the Old Town to the side of Prague where the Castle is. It can however get really busy during the day so it can be hard to get a good picture on it!

6. On the Monday, I had all morning and a bit of the afternoon to still explore Prague and I knew that I desperately wanted to do a boat trip and heard quite positive reviews about the Prague Venice Boat Trip. The boat trips takes you from Charles Bridge along the river and down Devil's Stream. For the 240 Czech Koruna, you get a 45minute boat ride, either a hot drink or beer (it was 10.30am so I went for tea) and an Ice Cream or biscuit along with free entry to the Charles Bridge Museum. You then also get a tour guide on the boat who tells you all about the river and other locations in Prague and I found out so much information about the floods in Prague and all the reconstruction done on the bridge. I wouldn't say that it's the most amazing boat trip I've been on - but if you're looking to get on the river than it's just perfect!

7. The Dubliner Irish Pub  - Now I know what you're thinking, you can't travel all the way to another country just to go to an Irish pub?! Well we did, and I'm so glad because Saturday night I managed to stay up for 24 hours straight as we headed to the pub for some live music. The atmosphere was amazing, the musicians were hilarious and the wine was cheap (can you tell I like wine?

8. Back to culture, the Prague Astronomical Clock is not only something you can't miss but you won't. Located bang in the middle of the Old Town Square is the medieval clock tower. Now you have to wait until the hands hit the hour because you'll see hundreds of people gather for the chimes (which are hilariously a little disappointing but it's great to go and watch everyone get pysched about it!)

9. You have to make sure to walk along the river from the Rudolfinum back down to Charles Bridge whilst the sun is setting as there are a couple of bars and benches you can sit on and just enjoy the beautiful view, you can also get the best view of Charles Bridge from here!

10. Whilst on your way to visit the castle, don't forget to take a walk through the area Mala Strana. Filled with beautiful houses with classic architectural designs. It's much quieter than the Old Town in Prague and there are so many hidden gems and archways to walk through.

  1. Great photos! I was in Prague back in November and wrote a few blog posts on it. The astronomical clock is hilarious! Really interesting though the way they use it to tell the time, we had a tour guide who explained it all for us! x
