An Ode To Bronze

I'm fully aware that this post may seem like I'm swerving into dangerous 'Autumn' territory, but have you seen the weather outside today?!Although I'm not totally embracing Autumn just yet I don't think my flatmate will allow me too, I'm starting to swerve towards those darker and smokier looks that I tend to wear more this time of year. Bronze has been a shade that I've probably been building a lot up in my collection over the past years, and I'm excited to share a couple of my favourite bronze products with you.

When Colourpop's Limited Edition 'Super Shock Cheek Churro' Highlighter went on sale I knew I had to get my hands on it. Never mind that I can never wear it as a highlighter because it's about 50 bajillion shades too dark and orange for me...*sigh*, I still wear it. Like Colourpop's eyeshadows, this has a spongey texture and feels like butter and is so squidgy. Although I don't wear this on my face, I have instead worn it on my eyes. It's got a coppery bronze undertone to it due to it having a marble effect. This is just so gorgeous with a simple dark brown in the crease and works well for a shimmery pop of colour for a night out.

My Maybelline Colour Tattoo 'On and On Bronze' definitely needs to be replaced because it's started to sadly get a film on it, but I LOVE these pot pigments. On and on Bronze is quite a dark taupey bronze which I wouldn't personally use for all over the lid because it is just that smidgen too dark, but instead I would work with a lighter shade first all over the lid, and then use this in the outer corner for a smokier bronzed look.

Revlon Colorstay Crème Eye Shadow Caramel* - I am in love with this little guy here. Not only is the packaging adorable I found the secret hidden brush about 5 days later but I am addicted to the pigmentation. I have to say, this packs on a little bit more of a punch than my Maybelline one however is a shade-touch lighter. This is a bronze shade I'd happily wear all over the lid and just blend the harsh edges with a crease brush. I always find these pigmentation pots work best by applying the product with your fingers rather than a brush, but they do need a fluffy crease brush to blend out.

Elf Baked Highlighter 'Blush Gem'*- This is my first ever Elf product and I guess my one gripe with this product is that it is no-way a highlighter, well at least not for my skin tone. This is far too dark for me so I tend to use this much more as a bronzer topper. I tend to go quite matte with my bronzers, and sometimes this can just look a little two dimensional so I love adding a quick sweep of this on my forehead and it adds a bit more life back into a flat bronzer. I would highly recommend trying these out both wet and dry, dependent on your skin type as I found using a wet fan or highlighter brush much more effective.

KIKO Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick '06'- I had always wanted to try out the By Terry Ombre Blackstar Eyeshadow Sticks but at £30 I just couldn't justify it, and instead came across these amazing eyeshadow sticks from KIKO. These are an incredible bargain and you cannot fault the product either. They are so pigmented and glide on like a dream. I love to take these with me on holiday because they are compact and you don't have to worry about the packaging as they are lightweight and more importantly, not glass like the eyeshadow pots.

  9. I think for the price difference the KIKO definitely beats out By Terry in terms of eyeshadow sticks (and I have both!) I love both Churro and On & On Bronze :)
