Monthly Favourites: October

After publishing my recent lifestyle favourites blog post here, I thought I would share my October monthly favourites wich aren't surprisingly overly Autumnal considering it's October. Although I do love my dark vampy lips around this time of the year, I didn't think it was really cold enough to be wearing it. I've been wearing lighter and thinner tops etc rather than big old jumpers, so I've steered away from the vampy lips which will probably all be in my November favourites and gone back to a lot of trusty old neutral favourites.

I'm planning on doing another Colourpop haul pretty soon and I'm going to have to repurchase my Ultra Glossy Lip 'Fairy Floss' because it's to-die-for. I am NOT someone for lip gloss, I hate the sticky and tacky feeling, how it looks on me and mostly the colours just don't do it for me, but after seeing KathleenLights rave on and on about this colour I knew I had to pick it up. This lipgloss is just beautiful, it makes your lips look fuller and the shade sits perfectly on top of nude lipsticks. One product I always pair it with is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk which I mention I talk about in a blog post here. They work so effortlessly together and the colours combined make your lips look plump yet still so natural.

A new product I've been obsessed with is the KIKO Extra Sculpt Volume Mascara. Another KathleenLights recommendation, I've been meaning to get my hands on this for ages. I haven't really tried out a new mascara in a while as I've religiously used a Maybelline one this entire year, but I have to say, I don't think I'm going back. I was a little thrown off by the wand on the brush, it's got a groove in the middle of the brush so that the ends of the brush are thicker and wider than the middle. However, this actually works great as you're able to really get volume and length on your outside and inner lashes. This isn't flakey at all and is like the perfect mixture between a clumpy yet still spidery lash - highly recommend!

It's the return of my much beloved Nars Duo 'Alhambra' which is now really looking worse for wear. I've managed to hit pan on my pink-champagne shimmer shade, but it's actually the gold shade on the right I've been loving. Although I haven't branched into the deep Autumnal shades too much, I have been wearing a lot of gold on my eyes and this has definitely become a staple.

A face powder that I've rekindled my love for is the Bourjois Poudre De Riz De Java Powder. With the colder weather coming in ever so slightly, I wanted to start giving my face a bit more of life. I've done a full review on the powder here so I won't talk too much about it, but what I will say is that it ultimately gives your face a finishing glow and a bit more depth to it, definitely needed in the Autumn time!

Lastly is a blush that I've wanted for such a long time which is the Sleek 'Rose Gold' Shimmer Blush*. I was really worried when I received this because it looked a lot brighter than I had thought in the pan, but when you apply it, the colour really settles into a nice warm rose-gold shade. Because we are entering colder weather and I've completely lost all reminiscence of a tan, I've tried to stay away from more matte blushers and head for ones with a bit more of a sheen. The blush doesn't have any chunky glitter in it, but instead just provides that overall glow effect to your complexion.

Let me know in the comments below a product you've been obsessed with this October!

  1. That Nars duo looks amazing! I believe I stopped to look at it in store at some point, but never actually picked it up. Probably because I have so many eyeshadows already!
