My Monthly Favourites: February

With January possibly being the longest month in the history of months, I swear February just came and went in the flashest of flashes. Work was hell busy so I kind of went back to basics with my makeup and just streamlined it back to basics and a very neutral look.

Firstly is my Crownbrush Rose Gold Contour Paddle Brush*. When I first received these a while back I did fall in love but ended up still opting for my beauty blender every time I did my makeup. However since switching back to my Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Serum, I've been back to using them. Because the foundation is much more gel/water based, it's thinner in consistency and using a beauty blender, although does work, can remove the coverage by just an ounce. The one thing I have to say isn't my favourite thing about these paddle brushes, is that they are a bugger to clean!

I am yet to purchase a full-sized but because I have two mini travel sizes of the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow I haven't needed to purchase a full sized just yet. I love using this on a Friday when going out after work, or if I'm heading on a night out. I only use a very small peas-sized amount all of my face, and it really just gives my base such a healthy glow. I don't end up oily by the end of the night and it doesn't even effect the lasting power on my nose which some glow-primers tend to do.

I picked up the No7 Shimmer Palette 'Rose' a while ago and I have just been using it on a daily basis to add a bit more depth and glow to my complexion. I sadly broke my much-loved bronzer a while ago, and although I absolutely do need to buy a new one, I've actually been using this along with MAC 's 'Sculpt' to add more colour to my face. I love this because it has no chunky glitter and really just adds pure sheen.

For my nails I've been going back to a firm favourite Essie's 'Spin The Bottle'. As you can tell I'm just bored of Winter and am ready for Spring so have totally ditched all my dark nail polishes for now, and have opted for all the nudes. Spin The Bottle is just to me, the perfect pinky nude, it has a fab staying power better than most of the Essie polishes and I think suits my hands weird I know regardless of when I'm pale or tanned.

Lastly is this beautiful KIKO Smart Colour Eyeshadow '02'. My flatmate actually got this for me for Christmas and I can't tell you how often I've been using it on a daily basis. I love to add it into the crease of a lighter champagne eyeshadow because it just adds a bit more depth whilst still maintaining the shimmer. I think KIKO is still a massively underrated brand, I've never been disappointed by their products yet and their eyeshadows just really pack pigmentation.

Let me know in the comments below what products you've been loving in February!

  1. That brush is so pretty - I'm still yet to try any of the paddle type brushes. That KIKO shadow looks super gorgeous too - I really need to try more of their products, they're so reasonably priced!xx

  3. The shimmer palette looks like it would be amazing to use for so many different things! I love that you could mix all the shades together or use the shades individually.

  5. Kiko shadows are amazing, aren't they?! I agree that they have some amazing affordable products in their range, although I do think they are getting hella expensive, especially if you turn to the limited editions. I sometimes go in and see a quad for about £15 and a single shadow for £9 and I'm like "seriously?" they used to be so cheap and good, and now I never feel like picking up their limited editions anymore, just for the price!

I think it was their eyeshadow sticks that got me into the brand, they were such great dupes for the By Terry ones!

That No.7 highlighter looks and sounds amazing. It's so great when you find a highlighter that isn't too chunky glittery. Never actually tried any of their products though! Is there anything else from them you would recommend? I might check it out when i'm in the UK next ;-)

  10. Oh I really want to try that polish. I'd been getting my nails done the past few of months, but now after Christmas I can't afford to get them done every couple of weeks. So I'm back to doing them myself for a bit and I'm on the look out for some nice nude shades!
