What I've Been Watching

It's a Tuesday afternoon, I'm curled up in bed, tea by my side and I'm being really productive. Aka I'm watching television. Recently I've been thoroughly enjoying my Netflix subscription and what the entertainment world has to offer. Really, I consider this research as I am studying Media and looking to work in the entertainment industry. So....basically it's okay for me to watch hours and hours of television a day, just sayin'.

Dexter (Netflix)

I am probably one of the last people in the world to watch this series and jump on the bandwagon and although I know the ending (thanks social media and general people) I'm still loving it. I've always loved crime, thrillers and action based shows and I'm not a squeamish person and therefore Dexter is right up my street! I'm currently on season 5 episode 8...though I won't tell you what episode I was on yesterday so that you can count my hours I've spent....

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe (BBC)
Recommended by my brother, this television review programme is hilarious. In each episode, the comedian looks at obscure television that has been shown on our screens and questions (sarcastically) the reasons why we actually watched it. My all time favourite is the episode where he compares UK television to the American television and begins his journey in Hollywood. He starts off by saying something along the lines of, "The reason why I'm holding up a fake hollywood sign in front of the real one, is that the actual Hollywood sign is copyrighted, and damn if I'm paying these money grabbing thieves thousands just to show a piece of plastic on some stilts"- Or something like that - I'm not doing it justice - If you like learning about the media and entertainment industry, this is the show for you!

The Great British Bake Off (BBC)

Of course a classic Summer Wednesday night at 8pm, for most of the English population is watching GBBO. Every year I get so into this show and it creates this urge for baking within me. I love Paul Hollywood and how he waltzes around the tent going, "oh....your going to mix it with that.....with that spoon?....Oh well go ahead!"

Very British Problems (Channel 4)

I was extremely excited to see the famous Twitter account that I had been following, was turned into a three part television show. An hour each, although only three episodes, these are so hilarious - oh...and James Corden is in it. That just makes it ten times better.

Gavin And Stacey (Netflix)

Speaking of James Corden, when I'm stuck with what to watch and am looking for laughs I always head back to the classic Gavin and Stacey. With a cup of tea and a blanket it almost makes you feel like home and it's just too legendary.

What shows have you recently been loving?

  9. I love these posts as I'm always looking for new shows to watch! Dexter sounds really intriguing to me, and I've debated watching it for a while now, but I am definitely squeamish, so I'm a little hesitant! I wish there was a way to watch The Great British Bake Off here in the states!

  11. I studied Film and Television and Media so I was the same, any time I marathoned a TV show I just said "research!" and justified it completely, haha. Such a fan of Dexter, won't give any spoilers but the very last episode was definitely an interesting one that I think a lot of people have different opinions of!
