1 Ingredient Banana Ice Cream

Now although Autumn is here, (sorry to burst your summer bubble if you're in denial) it does not mean that we can't still have a little bit of summer. Unless you hate summer, you can carry on with you hot chocolates and skip this blog post. I'm an avid lover of ice cream. Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla, in a waffle cone, without a waffle cone, with sauce, with toppings - I love it ALL. I would definitely say I consider Ice cream to be it's own food group. Of course with ice creams comes a lot of sugar and blah blah all those unhealthy things we don't really want to think about yet those little red bars on the bottom of the tub scream to you. Circulating the world A LOT has been the 1 Ingredient Banana Ice Cream. Aka frozen bananas in a blender. I seriously cannot see how this can even be any close to real ice cream. As an avid ice cream eater I decided to try it out, and here are my thoughts.

I decided to freeze my leftover over ripened bananas from the other day. I then whizzed it up in a blender and then popped it back into the freezer in an old ice cream tub (my family keeps these sort of things). I then left it over night and scooped it out like normal ice cream! Can I just say how un-banana like my ice cream looks? Was everyone else's not.....yellow?

Then...ta-tad! That's my ice cream and guess what. It tastes pretty darn good! I'll be honest it kind of tastes a bit like a banana smoothie...just more frozen? Also i'm not going to lie, it won't compete with Kelly's Clotted Cream & Honeycomb ice cream. Just sayin'. If you've tried that stuff, you know nothing can compare. It has a similar consistency and is pretty naturally sweet. With nada calories I'm happy to eat it as my after dinner snack - I even sneakily sprinkled some dark chocolate on top, but obviously you can skip this step if you aren't a chocaholic like myself....

Have you tried the famous banana ice cream? What are your thoughts?

  7. I used to do this all the time, it's so tasty! But since I moved I'm now without a blender and too lazy to get myself one.. I always used to put cacao powder in though, to make it chocolate ice cream (chocolate addict here ;)) and if I wanted to make it a real luxury, just a little bit of peanut butter too, haha! If you haven't tried this, you have to! It's delicious!
