My Evening Skincare Routine

Skincare routines are a blog post that I usually tend to steer away from mainly due to two reasons.

1) My skin routine is constantly changing due to the fact my spending habits make it so - along with the fact that my skin is constantly changing.

2) Skincare products are something in which everyone reacts differently to. Whether this be high-end, low-end , un-fragranced etc etc, everyone's skin is different.

Don't get me wrong, I lurve to read other people's skin care posts, but the problem is, is that everyone's skin is so different. Therefore, here's my mini disclaimer. The products I use work for this current moment in time very scientific of you Caroline and cater towards my skin at this current time. A little background to my skin type first: If you've been reading my blog for a while you know that my skin is uhm on the drier side. And I really do mean the drier side. It's very dry to the point where yes, it sometimes goes a little flakey and gross and basically feels like the sahara desert all the time. Hey you asked okay? Okay maybe you didn't. It's also quite blotchy and freckle-full. Just sayin'.

So after the longest disclaimer EVER, let me get us into the actual blog post.

To start with it is no surprise to my readers that to take my makeup off after a long day of work, I use my Lush Ultrabland Cleanser. What more can I say about this? Apart from the fact that it doesn't irritate my skin with such harsh chemicals like a lot of cleansers do, it's smooth application - love it-  is soothing to my skin and it incredibly takes off so much makeup.

Toner, yes please! This is the Clearly Corrective White Clarity-Activating Toner. The toner is pretty much the holy-grail of acne saving. You know those underlying giant painful bump type pimples you get? No? Just me, okay gross.  When I do get them, this toner really helps to bring the swelling down along with any redness.

I then apply my good old Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This stuff has been working like a dream in this routine, making my skin more even aka less blotchy and therefore need less foundation cover up in the day time. It makes my skin softer and brighter and overall just healthy looking. "A replenishing elixir of pure essential oils and distilled botanicals to visibly restore the appearance of skin by morning" - it does what it says on the bottle!

Next is the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye Cream. There was a time when I started to use this product and thought I was allergic to it but luckily it turned out to be me changing up my cleanser when I was at home that did it. In all honesty, I can't particularly see such a giant difference other than my bags being the tiniest bit less blue but if it's working even the smallest amount, I'm happy!

Finally it's time for the moisturizer. This is a very very new addition to my skin care routine. The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is intense hydration for dry parched skin. Basically I have been using this non-stop for the past week and this is how it goes. It goes. Oh my goodness does it work. Do you have overly dry patchy skin which flakes and you don't think that you will ever have normal skin again? Try this. I mean it. I don't rave  a lot of moisturizers but this woah. Enough. You get the jist.

So there we go! There is my evening skin-care routine! Let me know if you use any of the products mentioned and what your go-to skin care products are!

  1. I have started to add the Midnight Recovery Concentrate to my routine after hearing so many good things! I hope I see a big difference like you have. I have that FAB moisturiser waiting to be cracked open in my stash but can't justify having so many moisturisers open at once! Hopefully I finish one soon so I can finally start using the FAB one :) x

    1. Thank you for reading! Trying to find the right product for your skin is not only so time consuming but so expensive as well which is the main problem! If you can try and get your hands on any samples from Kiehl's it helps to find out if they work for your skin type before having to splurge :) xx

  7. I've heard soo much about the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate! It's so tempting but the price can be pretty steep and I can just never bring myself to splurge on it.. I'm currently using the Body Shop Vitamin E night cream and it does a decent job in restoring my skin overnight.. Plus I usually get it when the Body Shop does 40% off so it's a bargain for a lovely product! xx

    1. I really know what you mean with the price. I was able to get a sample size from the shop just to test it to see before anyways, but my brother so lovingly gifted it to me for Christmas, otherwise I never would have purchased it! I've heard body shop have amazing products for dehydrated skin, I really need to get back into looking at some of their products too! xx
