VICHY Dermablend*

A couple of weeks ago the lovely PR team at VICHY Laboratories got in contact with me in regards to their new Dermablend foundation range. VICHY is a brand that I familiarized myself with when I was living in Switzerland as they actually produced a moisturizer Nutrilogie that my mum used daily, but hadn't really delved into the brand myself so was very excited.

The team sent along the Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation* along with the Dermablend setting powder*. I was extremely excited to look at the foundation as when doing a little research after they contacted me, people with dry skin had said how great this product worked for them. As someone who suffers from dry skin, I was like yup. I want to have that long hold, flawless finish which doesn't cake up the face. Because that's not pretty.

Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation* £18

I've been trying out the fluid corrective foundation for quite a while now and think I've gotten to grips with it. Firstly, I am so used to my foundation to be in a bottle that a tube was almost confusing for me -  Although, I would definitely say it's better than a bottle if you were thinking about traveling as I'm always on edge that my Nars bottle will smash in my suitcase on flights.

The coverage of this foundation is a lot heavier than my Nars sheer glow that I use daily, which means I wasn't quite used to how to blend it in properly. I wouldn't recommend using a brush but a beauty blender/ blending sponge as it's easier to work through. I wasn't sure what colour I would match to as online it's quite difficult to get a gauge, so they sent me over Porcelain and Opal. Opal was an exact match to Nars Mont Blanc so I was very happy that I didn't either have to mix or go back - and by exact match  I mean uncanny. Very pleased Caroline. There are 8 shades in the range ranging between Porcelain (the lightest) and Expresso (the darkest).

I really liked the coverage of this foundation as a heavy duty foundation for nights-out rather than on a daily basis as I don't personally have extremely problematic skins anyways. I feel as if this will be my new night-out foundation as it looks great in photos (aka no shine or patchiness) and stayed so well on my face looking flawless even after my crazy dancing in the night club. What also impressed me was the price of this product. The regular retail price is £18 which is a lot cheaper than my Nars sheer glow and with such a great outcome, I would hands down recommend this to those looking for a budget friendly alternative.  One of the benefits of this foundation is that it has an SPF of 35 and foundations containing SPF are really vital for some people!

Dermablend Setting Powder* / RRP £16

This is where their loose setting powder comes in. Said to "strengthen and extend" the hold of the coverage products, this translucent powder is something I haven't really delved into. Setting powders are something I use daily, but usually it's my Rimmel Kate Moss, drugstore price friendly product. However, after using this I can really tell the difference. This is an extremely fine powder, causing very little cakeyness and helps hold the foundation in place. It comes with one of those powder puffs but I don't think anyone really uses them anymore so I went ahead by using my Real Techniques powder brush. The powder is wonderfully translucent meaning there was no unwanted colour payoff like my Rimmel one usually does give. I didn't have to re-powder my face during the day at all using this product whereas with the Rimmel one, I tend to have to re-powder once or twice a day. This powder seems to work really well on my entire face, apart from my nose. My nose is the one area on my face that has an issue holding any makeup anyways. Therefore I think I need a little bit of a heavier powder on my nose - oily nose problems hey?

This range to me is perfect for those suffering with drier skin who like a flawless complexion! I can easily see how this is a best selling foundation!

  3. I love the sound of the powder, it sounds great and I love the fact the powder is translucent. As to the foundation I generally go for lighter bases so I think the only time I would use this would be like you on nights out, I love the fact it lasted all night with ease on you.

    1. I hadn't ever tried a proper transculscent powder before and now I don't think I could go back! The coverage is heavy and definitely taken some time to get used to but worth it! Xx
