TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

The Mary-Lou Manizer has been on my wishlist for an absolute age. Every time anyone ever features this highlighter in their blog posts my first comment is "I want that highlighter. So. Badly." I even mentioned wanting to pick it up in my "My Favourite Highlighters" blog post here. For my 22nd Birthday my friends got me the highlighter along with some other Lush goodies (sneaky 2nd blog plug in post here) and I generally got so emotional that they just get me.

"Meet Mary-Lou Manizer, a seemingly innocent honey hued luminiser that catches everybody's eye. This highlighter, shadow and shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and younger while adding a subtle glow. "

This highlighter is I would say, a highlighter that is different from all the ones I own. And trust me, I own far too many and love far too many. This is what I would call the perfect semi-matte champagne coloured highlighter. For those who aren't a fan of the glitter-ball highlight effect, and want more of a sheen rather than a bright sparkle look.

Firstly, the packaging. One cannot talk about a new product without the packaging. I love the sleekness of this product, the fact that it isn't as clunky as my Mac Soft & Gentle which I always think looks like as if it will smash if I pop it in a bag. I love the fact that it comes with a compact mirror, and really just looks elegant, smart and simple.

Although the product looks hard to see on the swatch below, the pigmentation is beautiful. This is mainly down to the poor lighting choice (blogger problems) and the fact that the product suits my skin-tone so much that it doesn't look completely out-of-place when swatched on my skin. You can see that it really does have that 'honey hued' glow about it, being a lot warmer than my other highlighters. What I've really loved doing with this highlighter, is on a night out, mixing it with my Mac Soft & Gentle, and it really does give this natural looking bronzed highlight.

So far I am so impressed with my first TheBalm product! There are so many products I want to try from this range including their Nude palettes, but that will have to wait for another birthday, Christmas or pay day...remember spending ban! Shout-out to my lovely girls for picking up the gorgeous gift! What should I try next from TheBalm? Let me know.....

  2. I've been wanting to try this highlighter out for soooo long!! But if I'm honest I prefer a really pigmented and glittery highlight so maybe this isn't the one for me after all! The blushers also look really good ad I'm trying to restrain myself from buying the nude tude palette!1 xx

    1. Oh no! I thought it was quite a sturdy product in it's case but apparently it can smash quite easily after reading some more reviews! xx

    1. I actually tried this has a highlight under my brow bone a couple of times after I read your post and you're right! It's really gorgeous! It's not too pale so that it looks like an obvious highlight like some eyeshadow ones! Thank you for the tip :) xx

    1. I know! I thought it would be quite a good compact product, but I have heard a lot of people saying it does smash! The packaging is so deceiving..so it's not a prized possession! xx

  10. That looks really really pretty! Maybe too similar to my Becca Moonstone shimmering skin perfector, but I'd love to try it out and see if they're different enough for me to justify buying it!

    1. I would love to know your thoughts on whether it is a similar/dupe of it! I had my eyes on Moonstone as I thought it would be the perfect shad for me, but if it's the same I definitely wont need to purchase it! xx

    1. With highlighters there is so much diversity I feel as if I can justify buying a trillion of them! I find this one quite unique because it isn't so glittery and sparkly as some others! Hope you do buy it and love it! xx
