My Favourites: May

Did May even exist? Like seriously, it’s ridiculous. May has been a time of basically transitioning into a lot of Spring/Summer products (perhaps a little bit too prematurely) and here are a couple of products I’ve been loving. Firstly is the gorgeous Collection Speedy Highlighter ‘Pearl Sheen’. Although I’ve still been loving my Mac Soft and Gentle along with Mary Lou, this provides a lot more of a everyday glow which suits a lighter-coverage foundation a lot more. It’s very affordable the consistency is incredibly creamy and has much more of a sheen rather than glitter. I would recommend using a beauty blender to blend the product out, as I found it works best, but if you’re looking for a super affordable highlighter – head to your local Superdrug or Boots and give it a swatch! Next is the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Exclusive Nudes Eva Longoria’s ‘ Barely Golden’ (jeez can it have a longer name?). This is a gorgeous sheer nude lipstick with a peach undertone. This is literally that perfect natural glossy nude lipstick. Although mine bends a little bit which means it sadly scrapes along the packaging (minor insignificant details no one cares about Caroline) it’s slowly becoming a favourite lipstick of mine. The wear is pretty good, I would say around 4-5 hours, although because it is sheer lip, it doesn’t last as long as let’s say a matte. Regardless. Beautiful!

Next is something that came in my Look Incredible May Beauty Box - The Bella Pierre Kabuki Brush, although may look like that perfect powder brush, is my go-to bronzer brush. As I'm someone who doesn't necessarily like contouring, I do like bronzing. With this brush I can give myself a dusting of light bronzing around my entire face, without really giving any harsh lines. It picks up the product so well and the bristles are so soft and blend everything so well together.

Of course it wouldn't be my May favourites, without the Milani Baked Blush 'Luminoso' - seriously, out of all my blushes, this has got to be my favourite, and that is one big statement guys. I've talked about this in two blog posts recently; Blushers Perfect for 'Late Spring' and when I first picked it up in my Milani Cosmetics Haul - it's also made it's way onto my Instagram as it is so aesthetically pleasing. Beautiful. This is a stunning baked blush with a gorgeous sheen with peach undertones. This is that blush for all those who hate having pink on their cheeks, and like a bit of colour and sheen. This blush has been out of stock on the Milani UK website for ages and is finally back in stock - so seriously recommend getting it asap!

Phew, think six products was a bit optimistic, this is going to be a long post! Sorry guys! Usually my go-to scent is Chloe Eau de Parfum but Viktor & Rolf 'Flowerbomb' has been worn a lot recently. This is quite a floral perfume (my mum hates these) with a scent that definitely is down to the patchouli notes. Please don't make me try and explain the scent anymore (i'm seriously seriously rubbish) so I totally recommend going to give it a sniff, it's expensive but hey, aren't most perfumes?

Finally I picked up the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, something that I cannot believe I've lived without. I know I raved about the Maybelline Push up Drama one a while ago, but this has totally replaced it. This is by far the best drugstore mascara I've ever tried, it gives me serious volume, lash separation and curl. I find that the "Very Black" shade is like always out of stock online (she says this but annoyingly it's available online on feelunique haha) but in store I find it a lot easier to get hold of! If you're looking for that drugstore mascara holy grail situation this is the one!

So there we have it! Another month, another lot of favourites and another apology for the extremely long post - should have warned you to grab some snacks prior! Let me know what you've been loving this month and if any of the ones mentioned have made their way into your makeup collection!

  1. I'm not a fan of the Collection highlighter as it seems to shift my Nars Sheer Glow foundation and rub it all off. I do love the Maybelline Sensational mascara and Milani Blush though! I picked up their Illuminating Face Powder when I visited Florida last year and I wear it most days. It gives such a pretty, subtle finish.

    1. I know what you mean, it doesn't particularly work well on high coverage foundations at all. That's why I don't apply it straight from the stick, but dab my beauty blender on it first, and then apply it! xx

  2. Lovely six picks! Can we still go on about how incredible the lash sensational mascara is? haha!
I've wanted to try the milani blush in luminoso for ages but it's always sold out in my closest drugstores :( Love your blog!

  9. What a great list of favourites! I need to give Lash Sensational another try. I bought the waterproof formula which is great with holding the curl but don't do much other than that.

    1. This seriously gives me intense curl, volume and length - I've never loved a mascara THIS much from the drugstore, which is a bit statement from me haha! xx

  12. I love the Collection highlighter and I use a beauty blender to apply mine too. However less is definitely more as by pressing too hard you can easily rub off your foundation.

Not as big a fan of the Lash Sensational mascara as I find it goes clumpy so easily on my lashes! Xo

    1. Exactly! I tend to not apply it straight from the stick otherwise it does rub off the foundation, so take the product off with my sponge and then apply it that way! Oh no! I'm quite a fan of the clumpy mascara look which may be why I love it! xx

  13. I absolutely love the Milani Luminoso blush (it is my favourite drugstore blush for sure!) and you just reminded me that I should take it out more often to use it <3 I have also been wanting to smell Flowerbomb in store and see if I like it for myself since so many people have good things to say about it! Love all your picks for May <3

  14. I remember trying out Flowerbomb ages ago and loving it, I should go pick it up! I'm not sure if I'm using Lash Sensational right (do you apply it with the curved end facing upward??) but I'm just not loving it as much as everyone else does.

    1. I do apply it with the curved side upwards - I think it depends if you like a clumpier mascara look. I know some people prefer much more separated look but I'm definitely a clumpier kind of girl haha! I think the product applies a lot better about 2 weeks in, when it's new it can be quite wet and too much product can get on the wand xx

  15. VR Flowerbomb is my all time favourite perfume, I've gone through two bottles and it's always the one I turn to on special occasions. It's one of those scents that I always get compliments on too ;)
