My 10 Bad Beauty Habits

Happy Thursday everyone! I'm not someone who tends to have many bad habits, but when it comes to beauty habits, I'm horrendous. I've decided to make a list of "My Bad Beauty Habits" - let the roasting on myself begin!

1. Buying too many makeup bags. I have far too many to count and what's worse is that they are all huge and therefore I fill them to the brim - not great for traveling ...

2. Rarely cutting my hair. Sometimes I go longer than a year - yikes. Though I am pretty proud, I've cut my hair recently, and I've decided I really like it quite short, and I'm going to bite the bullet before work next week, and cut it a lot!

3. Peeling off my nail-polish once it starts chipping - even if it should be taken off with acetone ...

4. Forgetting to wash my brushes and beauty blender. It's the issue of doing it on a day when I know I will not wear makeup the next day to leave them to dry! Eww Caroline, look how dirty that blender is.... *hides face in shame*

5. Keeping old nail-polish - I hoard and hoard my old nail-polish whether it's empty or gloopy. I can't  throw it away just incase you need that gross Shrek green nail-polish for a costume party.

6. TMI Warning - Scratching mosquito bites and ruining my holiday newly tanned skin. When I travelled to the states last year I got bitten horrendously (no matter what repellent I use it never works).

7. Washing my hair everyday - However, I'm still debating on whether or not this is ACTUALLY bad for you ...

8. Irrational Purchasing Syndrome - I too quickly pop anything into my basket without  thinking. Caroline you don't need anymore nude lipsticks - that's enough now.

9. Leaving my brows too long to caterpillar - It's such a difficult routine to remember to pop to Superdrug to get them threaded every month!

10. Unorganised makeup! I'm an absolute neat freak and hate to mess but I've only gotten round to purchasing one acrylic makeup drawer which is not enough! Half of my makeup is shoved in a subscription box box, waiting to be beautifully organised. I'm hoping to, once I've moved, make myself a vanity table!

So there we have it, now they are out in the open, you reckon I will start getting better? Doubt it.

What are some of your bad beauty habits?

  4. I can honestly say I am a culprit of every single one of these, apart from makeup bag syndrome. I rarely cut my hair because when I do I always regret it! I am the worst for forgetting to wash my brushes too and I keep my makeup in storage boxes which is completely ineffective and prone to becoming a mess. Great post, so fun to read and alleviates some of my own guilt xxx

  5. I'm with you on number 2! I get my hair cut about once a year and even then it's stressful, I always get a trim on my ends but somehow it always feels like 3 inches has been whacked off! not a feeling I want every month!haha x

  9. Oh gosh I can't remember the last time I got my hair cut! I don't think washing your hair everyday is necessarily bad for you but from what I've read removing your natural oils too often can cause oil overproduction, which makes your hair greasy faster, and then the oils never make it to the ends of your hair so they're more likely to be dry.

  11. Omg washing brushes is such a chore, its the worst hahah! I'm definitely with you on 2, 3, 5, 8 & 10! On washing your hair every day, I definitely think it depends on your hair type- I have naturally the dryest, curly frizzy hair and if I washed mine every day it would be so disgusting and dry and probably break loads. But if washing it every day works for you then who cares! x

  12. I can certainly relate to a few of these - washing my brushes especially, I leave it way longer than I should! Also the whole hair washing thing, I used to wash mine everyday but managed to get out of that routine over summer and now wash it every other day and I prefer it because its not as much hassle!

  14. I wash my hair everyday too mainly because I cook almost everyday and I hate the smell of food in my hair. I don't think it's as bad as many made it out to be though. My hair is seriously pretty healthy.

  15. I may have 8 of these bad beauty habits, it's been a year since I had my hair cut and it's in dire need of being done, I just hate the whole process, especially the small talk.

  17. I usually wash my hair almost every day as well, and I haven't really noticed any seriously negative effects. I starting "training" my hair to product less oil though by washing it every day and a half though, and now I'm approaching being able to go 2 days before a wash. With straight, fine hair, I can't imagine going more than 2 days though! xx
