Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

It seems that everyone and their mums not only have this product, but have also reviewed this product. I picked this up a while ago in my Superdrug haul and have had a good over-a-month time to give it a go and play around. I'm never one to shy away from a hyped up review and although you may be sick of hearing about this beautiful palette, I'm still here to remind you just how beautiful it is. The Sleek 'Solstice' Highlighting Palette and all it's glory has finally made it's way into my collection!

There are three Sleek Highlighting Palettes; 'Solstice', 'Precious Metals' and 'Midas Touch'. Off the cuff, I would have probably picked up the Precious Metals one, just because it is a hell of a lot less intimidating. As you can tell there is a pretty striking purple and yellow toned highlighter which off the bat are pretty scary looking! However, this is the one that everyone pretty much raved on about so I wanted it. Wanted it bad.
Firstly of course is the packaging. One cannot talk about Sleek Palettes without the packaging. The palette is in a mirrored-gold case, which although is definitely prone to having a load of finger-print marks on it, is very luxurious. The outer packaging is really important though as well, mainly because it has the instructions of where to best place the highlighters on the face and therefore I'm almost too scared to throw away the cardboard box, although now I have written up the instructions on the blog, I guess I can!
The palette comes with a large mirror and a small brush (which to be honest I will never end up using) There are four shades of highlighters in the box, two baked powders, a cream and a silk powder.

The four shades in the palette are:

Ecliptic: "Lift the brows with a highlighter across the browbone with Ecliptic" This is definitely my favourite of all the four shades in the palette, mainly because of how versatile it can be. Although I'm not usually a fan of cream highlighters (it always tends to shift my foundation underneath) - this is a real exception. This is a lovely cool-toned champagne frost finished (gosh how descriptive of me) shade. When I say this shade is very versatile, I mean it. I've been using it as not only a highlighter under my brows, but also on my cheeks when you've got a tan this looks amahzing and as an eyeshadow this looks gorgeous paired with the The Seventeen Eyeshadow Mono* in Rose Quartz.

Hemisphere: "Add shimmer to cheekbones with Hemisphere" Next is the shade that definitely takes me right out of my comfort zone. I'm much more of a warm toned highlighter kind of person, and basically every beauty product tends to be warm-toned, however this highlighter truly is gorgeous. It's actually a lot more pink toned than purple when swatched and applied, rather than purple that it looks like in the pan. For me this makes it a lot more workable! Although  a baked powder, it is extremely creamy in texture and very blendable. I have to say with this shade you have to go easy on the application, less is definitely more otherwise you can end up with a pink stripe on your face which does not look cute! Make sure to tap off any excess as well!

Subsolar: "Highlight down the bridge of your nose using Subsolar" A very yellow toned silk powder, this product I would have to say is my least favourite in the palette. I tend to not use this "on the bridge of my nose" as suggested because it can leave your face looking a little washed out if you're more on the pale side. The best place for me, is to apply this on the cupid's bow, yet of course very lightly. Another product that actually looks a lot less scary out of the pan swatched than in it. It isn't as yellow toned, but in comparison to Ecliptic and Equinox, it's still quite yellow.

Equinox - "Enhance lips with a highlighter on the cupid bow with Equinox." Lastly is my second favourite product. I was worried this was going to be a bit too dark of a highlighter for me but in fact looks so stunning when you're sporting a bit more of a bronzed nude look. This is that on-the-spot golden shimmer highlighter, so if you're a fan of white based highlighters stay away! If you're extremely fair, I wouldn't really recommend this highlighter as it can show up a bit too orange. This also makes for a stunning eyeshadow as well.

Overall this palette is beautiful. Personally I think it's one of those palettes in which you use the products dependent on your skin tone. I personally like using a lighter highlighter on my cupid's bow than Equinox and therefore chose Subsolar. That's one of the best things about these palettes is that you're really about to get creative. Although, it does say that you can use this on the body as well, but am yet to try that! I suggest always looking at the Sleek counters at Superdrug as they tend to be always doing a '3for2' deal or 'buy 2 Sleek Products for £10' type of deal! The product is luxurious and if you're a lover of highlighter, I cannot recommend highly enough. I would love to try out the Precious Metals highlighter as well to see how it compares!

Left to Right: Ecliptic, Hemisphere, Subsolar & Equinox,
Let me know what you think of the Solstice Palette or if you own any of the others. I'd definitely be interested in reading a review on the 'Midas Touch' one, it's definitely more out-there!

  13. I've been toying with the ideo of getting this palette for quite a while but I just don't know how wearable the shades are for me, especially as I am so fair! They look beautiful swatched, though, and if I hadn't just bough the Mary Lou-manizer I think I would have given it a go!

    1. I think if you're fair, the other highlighter palette 'Precious Metals' may just be that little bit more wearable! I think because I am fair but I have freckles (which make me look a bit more tanned) some of the darker colours can work! xx

  18. I love the look of this palette and I keep having to tell myself not to give in since I have so many highlighters! I really love the shade Subsolar, perfect shade for me. It's a shame they don't sell the shade separately. I totally agree that the packaging is very luxurious, it's one of the things that's so hard to resist!
