My Autumnal Lip Picks

The Autumn blog posts are starting to rally up on Iridescent Places as I've got a cinnamon spiced orange candle lit and my harry potter slippers on. There's nothing that says Autumn more than cracking out the dark vampy lips. I have far too many lipsticks to count, but a majority of them are much more Autumn/Winter appropriate than Summer so it was difficult to narrow down which I think you need this Autumn, but I managed it. Okay, when I said narrow down....there are six, not exactly narrowed down but what can I say, I'm lipstick fanatic.

Mac 'Plumful' - If you're not a fan of matte dark lipsticks than Plumful is a great shade for you. This is a lustre finish so has a lovely sheen to it and is extremely moisturising and comfortable to wear. Plumful is a lovely rose-plum shade that is perfect for those who don't like too much of a bold lipstick but still want to jump on the bandwagon for Autumnal shades. Because it is a lustre finish, it doesn't have full coverage with just one application which also means you can chose how full coverage you want it!

Charlotte Tilbury 'Glastonberry' - Lol I still can't believe I spent £23 on a lipstick. Also, cannot believe I just said lol on my blog. I mean I totally can (believe I spent £23 that is), because can we just admire how fricking beautiful this lipstick is? I wrote an initial blog post all about it here and as it stands I am still so in love with it. I would never have dared wearing a dark purple lipstick in a million years, but this is so surprisingly wearable! Although it isn't the most opaque of lipsticks (will need around 2-3 coats for full coverage) I find that it's more comfortable to wear than those matte lipsticks which are more opaque with one layer. I still have no idea how else to describe this colour other than 'blackberries that are stained on your fingers'.

Colourpop Lippie Stix 'Poison' - I've talked about this lipstick in quite a few blog posts already, considering it is quite new to the collection, but because I had already talked about my perfect reds here already, I didn't want to include too many in this post so chose the one to me which says 'Autumn' rather than 'Christmas'. Poison is a beautiful dark burnt brown/red lipstick which is such a unique shade. I'm so impressed with the lippie stix formula, it's comfortable and the applicator is so fine that it's easy to precisely apply the product.

Colourpop 'Bumble' - If you're again looking for not too dark of an Autumnal lip, this orange burnt terracota liquid lipstick does just the trick of adding a bit more warmth to your look. At first I wasn't so impressed with the formula of this liquid lipstick, it's quite watery in comparison to the ones we find in the UK drugstores. It took a little getting used to, but it's growing on me a lot more. As suggested on the website, I really recommend using a lip scrub and lip balm prior to applying it, as it just makes it more comfortable to wear!

Mac 'Twig' - This Mac lipstick shade I finally think is getting the recognition it deserves! I've seen loads of people haulin' this shade in the past couple of months which makes me so so happy. Twig is one of my all time favourite Mac Shades, a soft brown with the slightest purple undertone. I am frickin' obsessed because this is just one of those shades that isn't a plain nude, but adds a little bit more depth to it. Twig is a satin finish which is a great formula because the longevity is a bit better than lustre, but also not as drying as a matte formula.

Mac 'Velvet Teddy'  - Finally we come to the perfect Autumnal nude. For me Velvet Teddy is just a bit dark to be wearing during the Summer time and I don't particularly like wearing a matte in the Summer time but opt for more sheen formulas. I don't think there's anything more I can say about this lipstick other than, the hype is real. A perfect matte nude, that looks sophisticated enough to pull a look together and effortless.

  11. I'm intrigued about CT! I have yet to try anything from the brand, but overall, love your picks! I think we have similar taste for lipstick shades. I agree about what you said on Twig finally getting the recognition that it deserves now! I'm looking to try that and Plumful next time I'm in MAC. For now, MAC's Craving is my autumnal everyday shade!
