Life Update: Cats, DIY & Christmas

Currently I'm living in my flat in London surrounded by a mass of paint pots, no lampshades, no sofa and I'm not going to lie, I'm having a bit of a mare when it comes to my life at the moment. I've always been one of those super organized people. I like to know when things happen a week before, I like to plan, arrange, organize, and structure, but this is the one time that nothing has ever gone to plan! I've got tilers who bring the wrong coloured tiles, I've got decorators who said that they can't do half the things we've asked them to do, and I've got companies who don't turn up to deliver things. I've finally got my mum over who has taken over a little bit of the project, but we're realizing just now, how much more stuff we need to do to the flat, saying that my new flatmate moves in next week? Mild panic (but also much excitement). On a brighter note, this does mean more white walls and perhaps even a flat decor blog post?

Apart from the flat, which I know everyone at work is getting tired of hearing about 'silicone' 'copper' and me comparing myself to Nick Knowles, I've been thinking about the long process of adopting a cat. Currently that doesn't seem very likely, mainly because of the whole flat situation. I've always grown up with cats, and to me I can't really imagine living without one! Of course this is not something I will just go out and do, I know cats take a lot of time, effort and money. This is something I'm thinking about in 2 years time. I will need to think about the cats happiness especially because it is a flat etc so sometimes it is only fair to get a cat if they need to be indoors for example if they are deaf, blind or have feline aids etc.Something to really think about perhaps later on!

We're also nearing to Christmas time, and yes, I have zero shame. It got to 3 degrees today and finally wore a scarf (without nearly passing out on the tube), Costa coffee brought out their Christmas cups today and I've already seen my first Christmas tree as well. This has most definitely got me in the mood for Christmas, mainly because I'll be heading home back to Zurich for a whole 10 days. Going home for Christmas is one of my all time favourite part of the years, mainly because Switzerland = White Christmas (well usually), getting to spend time with my two kitties and basically becoming a slob and reliving my teenage years of having my parents cook for me (finally I'll be able to eat something other than pasta).

It's been a massively busy time at work as well so I'm looking forward to having time off at Christmas relaxing and really looking forward to when my flat will finally be all finished. Let me know how you deal with everything basically falling all on top of you and when you think you're literally about to pull your hair out! Hopefully this would have all calmed down by the next week but will of course keep updated on all things Silicone and tile based ;)

    1. hahaha thankfully I haven't bought this flat either, it's my parents but I'm doing it up! It's just a lot of stress and my god, I can't believe you're doing it pregnant, seriously that's amazing! The problem is just the deliveries and having to take time off work! xx

  2. Wow! Sounds like you have been crazily busy - how exciting that you are decorating and preparing your new flat. It won't be long and you'll be back in Switzerland - so jealous of the white Christmas. Also, you should definitely get a cat!!!!

  6. Oh god Caroline, it does sound like a mare! I'm exactly like you, I like to know when everything is going to happen and have things planned in advance, and when it doesn't go to plan, panic creeps in. I cannot wait till christmas and I'm glad your mum's home, they're the best and I'm sure she'll take it all under control and it'll all be sorted before you know it!! Good Luck with everything X Have a lovely day :)

  7. I really hope you can adopt a cat soon! Even though I am a dog person, I adore all animals and I would definitely adopt a cat if I moved to a flat by myself.

I'm happy you are doing great!
