My Festive Makeup Menu

For the next two weeks I've been using the excuse "but it's Christmas!" to pretty much attend every single Christmas drinks, Christmas Party and Christmas get-together possible. Of course this also means having to have some sort of basic festive makeup menu that just works perfectly for this time of the year.

When it comes to foundation I usually tend to wear a medium coverage foundation during the day but when it comes to events, nights out and parties I like to go for a bit more of a heavier foundation and the Vichy Dermablend Foundation* is perfect for this. Every time I use it I forget how much I love it and how perfect the shade Opal is! It has great staying power which is super important if you're like me and on the dance floor about 99% of the time. I would recommend using a beauty blender to really buff out the foundation but it has an amazing finish.

When it comes to my eye makeup I think that the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette just screams out Christmas party. This is a stunning quad which has four beautiful shades that combined work effortlessly or individually too. The shades have some beautiful shimmer without being overly glittery which I think looks magical! If I want to add a bit more of a 'something something' I love using the Handsome Prince pigment from the Mac Nutcracker Sweet Bronze Pigments and Glitter Kit just on top of the eyelid!

If I'm going for a full blown smokey eye with the CT palette I like to keep my lips simple with the L'Oreal Paris Nude Lipstick 'Eva's Nude'  which is a super creamy sheer lipstick. For a night out I like to go for less of a bold lip as I guarantee it would end up somehow on my forehead and all over my clothes.

Although, if it is more of a 2 hour drinks or dinner situation my red festive lipstick of choice is Mac Russian Red which to me is just that pure brilliant festive red. It's matte as well which means it has great staying power throughout the evening.

I know it's not technically makeup but I had to include the Maybelline Super Stay Golden Brown polish. This is perfect for those who love a festive nail but aren't into the whole 'glitter nail edit'. I actually received this in my advent from my flatmate and I adore it! It's definitely more of a rose gold rather than a golden brown, but regardless I'll be wearing it all the time this festive season!

Let me know in the comments below what your festive makeup entails and also if you're more of a bold or nude lip during the festive period!
