Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit - Go To Nude

When I saw Katy from LexiLife  post about these on her blog I knew I had to get my hands immediately on them. I've never tried anything from Kylie cosmetics, because I just could never justify the price of the product, delivery and customs so I won't be able to compare these at all, but come on, who doesn't love a good lip liner/liquid lipstick match! Lip Kits currently seem like all the rage now and I'm not going to lie, I am loving it. It makes finding the perfect lip liner match so much easier.

I picked up the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit 'Go To Nude' as this was a shade I was most drawn to (although I really want to get my hands on Pose Pink) and in all fairness there was only one of these left so I felt almost pressurized to get it.

Firstly the lip liner that comes with the lip kit is, the formula to me, isn't as creamy as the Colourpop lip kits, however they aren't as 'scratchy' and dry as the Mac lipliners, so they sit somewhere in between. I found it really easy to outline my lips and the pigmentation was quite surprising!

Next is of course the main product, the liquid lipstick. When I first applied this to my lips I was terrified and gutted because it looked a lot lighter of a brown than I thought it would be and thought it was washing me out. However, it then dried down and it actually got a bit darker and set to the colour I had originally swatched so I was so happy which is why the lip liner looks a little bit too dark for the lipstick, but they actually settle to being the same colour.

It's a quite grey-toned brown (a colour I surprisingly don't have in my collection I promise) which doesn't really show up on the swatch below. The formula of the liquid lipstick is very thin and runny, it reminds me a lot of the formula Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip however I have to say, I actually prefer the formula of this! They are quite a bit more comfortable on the lips than the Colourpop ones, less tacky and not as drying. I would say that this does however settle into the lines on my lips, although I do have unusually 'liney' lips so that may not be the case for everyone. The longevity is impressive but nothing 'incredible' but reapplying it is easy as it doesn't become 'clumpy' or crumbly on the lips as some of my other liquid lipsticks do.

I can see this becoming a staple and I'm so surprised that Barry M came out with such a good'n! I've not tried the other shades but will keep you posted, let me know in the comments below if you've picked on of these up!

  10. I picked up this shade yesterday. I'm excited to try. I've tried a few of Barry Ms lip liners and I thought they were ok, nothing special. I'm hoping the one in the lip kit will be better though. xx
