Recent Makeup Menu

In January I felt as if I was in a bit of a rut when it came to makeup. I had lost all sense of caring post-Christmas and just went through a stage where I took a massive step back on my heavy thick foundation and opted for a glow and minimal basic look.

First of all I've only worn it a couple of times but can already tell you that this will feature in my February favourites, the Loreal True Match Foundation has been amahhhzzing. I usually despise L'Oreal foundations, the original True Match foundation I got a couple of years ago made me want to hurl *not being dramatic at all* as it sunk into every pore possible and looked so cakey and patchy on my skin. I since then have stayed the hell away from L'Oreal foundation however saw the new packaging (but not really that new) and heard loads of positive reviews about the new formula and I'm so glad I did! It's got such a lovely dewy complexion and works so well into my skin and doesn't feel heavy at all. To apply my foundation I have to say I've been loving my Crown Brush Rose Gold Full Contour Set* which I reviewed here  for applying my foundation as it really buffs foundation into the skin and doesn't absorb up as much as a complexion sponge!

I've been sticking to my favourite concealer the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 'fair' under my eyes and 'Cool Medium' on any spots. I've been using a lot less of this product though for the spots on my nose as otherwise it can go patchy so a little goes a long way!

I've been bringing it back with the glow and returning to my Sleek Solstice Palette which I have to say was abandoned heavily during the past couple of months. I've been loving an intense brown bone and inner corner highlight and this palette has been perfect for it!

On my eyes I've pretty much been obsessed with my Colourpop Supershock Eyeshadows in 'Cornelious' and 'La La' which you can tell is a little worse for wear. I won't blag on about how amazing the quality of these are as I'm sure you're sick of hearing about it, but I've loved both a rose gold eye which I spoke about in my post here or just a neutral all over eyeshadow. My mascara of choice of course has to be the Maybelline Lash Sensational which provides my lashes with both beautiful volume and length.

Of course on my lips I've pretty much only been wearing my Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick 'Pillow Talk' (legit cannot believe they upped the price by a pound now?!) and wrote a detailed post about the lipstick here  and have worn the lipstick for 8 days straight since I purchased it!

Let me know what your current makeup menu is and if you have any products I need to get my hands on this month (I just got paid so....)!

  3. I have heard everyone talk about Pillow Talk!

I also need to try those makeup brushes. I like my sponge, too, but am always searching for something that will work a little better.

    1. I love my sponges as well, but these work great for foundations that are lighter coverage and don't particularly work well with sponges! xx

  5. Even though, I actually always (well, almost always) love L'Oréal foundations, I'm loving the True Match foundation at the moment as well! Even though everyone seems to talk about the new ColourPop powder eyeshadows, the SuperShock shadows are the ones I'm the most willing to try, so your thoughts about them are really helpful to me, lovely post!

    1. They definitely took me some time to get used to and sort of realised which foundations worked and which ones didn't! I think it will probably be one of my all time favourite lipsticks...ever.. xx

    1. I've only just recently got back into wearing it and it's just so insane for a drugstore product, you can't get that glow from most drugstore brands! xx

    1. It's only a pound, but still can't believe they upped the price, it's like they knew that because there was such a high demand, they would take advantage! So uncool xx

  12. I keep going back and forth on if I need the Sleek palette or not, its so gorgeous but I have so many highlighters! I unfortunately was not a huge fan of the crown brushes at first but I started using them with powder products and like them so much more.

    1. What I love about it is that it is so versatile and a palette that you can use on your eyes and on your face! I've never actually tried them with powder products, I hadn't even thought about that xx

    1. They are so pretty and I have to say, I think they are totally worth it. They've done wonders when I've been applying the Bourjois foundations which usually don't work with sponges! xx

    1. I originally hated the first formula so I guess when they came out with the new formula, everyone wanted to see what it's like! You're so right Maybelline just understand mascaras!! xx

  17. I love Pillow Talk and I adore that sleek palette but I just can't get that concealer to work for me :( It just turns orange on my skin, and even if I put it on under my foundation the orange patch shines through, what is wrong with my face?!

    1. That's such a shame!! Perhaps it oxidizes with your foundation? I use the lightest one 'fair' and it's quite light. Although if you're looking for a concealer that isn't orange toned at all, the Bourjois Radiance Concealer is great! xx
