My Flatmate Reccomends: Eye Products

Okay so this post was a challenge, there are about a billion eye products that I adore which I could write about, but Caroline set me a challenge: pick your ultimate eye favourites, so here they are…

First let’s talk concealer. Work keeps me on my toes and I get talked into late night drinking and dancing way too often so this girl needs a little help to look bright eyed and bushy tailed on the daily. There are lots of great products for concealing but I just love Bare Minerals Stroke of Light Eye Brightener - it’s a concealer which also contains some of their magic potion eye brightener and it’s amazing. I find Luminous 2 is the perfect shade for me, a little lighter than my skin tone without being too pale. Better still, the formula is nice and light so it conceals without feeling heavy or caked on and is natural enough to be worn without foundation whilst still helping to cover up any under eye darkness.

Before I even knew what highlighting meant I was obsessed to Benefit High Beam. I have literally been using this since I was a teenager in school. It’s super shimmery, a lovely pink tone and does a great job of making your eyes sparkle and accentuating your brows, even if you’re going for a natural look with no eye shadow.

I didn’t discover eyelash curling until a few years ago, but for me it is now a daily essential, even when I’m not wearing any make up on holiday or on a chilled Sunday - I curl my lashes. There are some curling horror stories though, one of my best friends in school genuinely ripped half of her right eyelashes out on a Tuesday morning – the moral of the story is don’t buy the crappy £2 ones from Primark, make an investment! I love the Tweezerman Eyelash Curlers, prices for these vary between £15-£25 but they are great, I promise.

If you don’t have a white eye liner pencil in your life: you are missing out. I use Rimmel Soft Khol Eye Pencil 'Pure White 71' – it’s a bargain drug store purchase which will make your eyes look bigger and more awake on those days which are a struggle. I use it on my waterline and in the inner corners to brighten the whole area up, and it’s also great for accentuating any black or coloured liner you’re applying.

Selecting my favourite black liner was a tough one; I’ve tried a fair few and I always have more than one on the go, but my go-to night out liner has to win the favourite title. Mac Fluidline 'Blacktrack' is such a great product, once applied the liner lasts all night. Granted, it takes a while to master gel eye liner application but I’d highly recommend the Mac 263 Small Angle Brush and a magnifying mirror under good lighting.

Full disclosure: I am also very much addicted to eye shadows, but we’ll chat shadows another time… ;)
