Giving Yourself Some 'Me' Time This Summer | AD

Finding 'me' time during the Summer months is incredibly difficult. You're constantly under-pressure to go outside and enjoy the weather with your friends which don't get me wrong is fab but you actually don't really tend to take any 'me' time. It's also hard to do the usual winter pampering routine of 'let's have a bath' because lets be honest here, who wants to take a bath when it's 30 degrees outside, not me.

Read A Book - Whether I'm on holiday or outside in the park I've been obsessed with reading again. There's nothing better than escaping reality and getting lost in a good book. A couple of books that I've read recently that I've enjoyed are While My Eyes Were Closed by Linda Green and Sophie Kinsella's My Not So Perfect Life: A Novel

Pampering - Like I said, there's no way you want to be taking a boiling hot bath during the Summer months, but there are loads of other alternative ways you can pamper yourself. Either using a cold pack face mask or picking out your favourite Summer-perfect polishes for a mani/pedi I've been obsessed with Essie's Spin the Bottle. Something that I have been doing is treating myself to more luxurious shower products as showers are much more sensible in this heat. I'm sure you've all heard of L'Occitane, who offer natural beauty products & organic cosmetics. They have some amazing gift sets in their gifts for he section in which you can treat yourself (or someone else) to some luxurious shower oils. You can also get your hands on trios of the Cherry Blossom scent which is my all time favourite. The gift sets always work out that little bit cheaper as well, so you can feel pampered even when having a shower.

Explore Nature - I think there is something magical about nature and although living in central London means I don't particularly find myself in it, I try to do my best when I'm back at home in Switzerland or out in Surrey with my family. Personally I like actually going on walks/bike rides or hikes by myself to really clear my head. You're constantly surrounded by other people's noise and life that it's good to just take a break from friends or family.

Find Some Local Activities - Wherever you live there are always an abundance of things to do. Living in London I'm definitely lucky that I can wake up one morning and just decide that I want to go to the theater that afternoon, or head down to Southbank where no doubt there is a food market going on. Take a look in your local newspapers or if you're in London on Time Out to see if there are any outdoor cinemas going on, cheap matinee performances or pop-up activities in your local towns.

Let me know in the comments below what you like to do to give yourself some 'me' time in the Summer!
