That Summer Glow

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty sick and tired of the non-existent sunshine! My Cyprus holiday tan has completed faded *cries* and there is ultimately no other way for me to look like an actual living person than to fake tan.

I've never been a big fan of fake tan, it reminds me of those days in school were I would steal one of my mums gradual tans and end up having cheeto coloured legs like Georgia from Angos Thongs, then realizing my mum and her annoying 365 day a year tan means she purchases the darkest gradual tans ever.

Finally at 23 I think I've managed to tackle the fake tan routine, or at least attempted to. First of all you need to have a good base. Exfoliating your skin is so important because it means you'll have a nice soft and even layer for your tan. Usually I find a loofah sufficient, but on my arms I like to use my Lush Buffy Bar as I have bumpier skin. If you're going to use a gradual moisturizing tanner, I tend to skin the moisturising step, but if I'm going in with proper self-tanner, I like to use a heavy duty moisturiser like the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Butter which works wonders on dry skin. I then finally go in with the self tanners.....

My all time favourite gradual tanner has to be the Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Body Lotion. This stuff is amazing. Although this is quite expensive it's almost always on offer in Boots or Superdrug and definitely worth it. I tend to buy the fair to medium skin, although there is a medium to dark available. I never find that this is streaky, it moisturises my body as well as gradual tans and I find that if I use it for 3/4 days it is just a perfect level of summer-glow.

For proper self-tan I am an absolute noob. For me the St Moritz Advanced Pro Tanning Instant & Gradual Tanning Mousse* is as close to a self-tan I'll go. I prefer this to the mist as I find you're able to get a much more even coverage with a tanning mitt. You also need to use less product which in the long run is better for a more gradual tan as well.

Let me know in the comments below how you go about getting that Summer glow now that it appears we're in Autumn! Would love to know your recommendations!
