My Current Base

I've said many times on this blog I'm not one for switching up routine - I'm someone who finds a foundation and will repurchase it for yonks. However, I have decided that I need to branch that little bit more out and since I changed up my foundation I've really been switching up a majority of my base products.

The NYX Professional Makeup Pore Filler* primer has been something that's been keeping my base in check every day. I have quite prominent pores on my cheeks near my nose and usually I let them slide, but because I've wanted more of a dewier complexion, they appear that little bit more than if I had a matte foundation. This has quite a silicone feel to it, but find it works really well when I mix it in with my moisturizer and it really does create a smooth base for my foundation.

I mentioned in my No7 Boots Haul here my new found love for the No7 Lift and Luminate Triple Action Serum Foundation. Since we're mildly entering Autumn it's still 19 degrees in London so yes, mildly I've been wanting to create more of a dewy complexion as this is when my skin kind of freaks out and goes into ultimate dryness. This foundation feels weightless and gives me such a dewy and radiant complexion without being oily and sliding off my face. I find the wear is long-lasting and doesn't go patchy by the end of the day and for once I don't even have to powder my nose.

Although I don't need anymore highlighters, the Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette* is a palette I've been reaching for daily. I absolutely love the Cool Toned Light Pink Shimmer and the True Champagne with Shimmer shades in the palette. These do have a little kick-up in the pan, so I find it best to apply with a Real Techniques Setting Brush but these are gorgeous for highlighting the inner corners of your eye and under the brow bone.

To really finish off the ultimate dewy complexion I apply a little dusting of the Bourjois Poudre De Riz De Java on top of my setting powder to add more of a lift to my complexion. This is such a finely milled loose powder, that not only sets your makeup but leaves it radiant.

  2. I've wanted to try the NYX Pore Filler for ages, I get really bad pores in the same place! Also I've been meaning to try the Bourjois powder since it came out - I must buy both of those on payday! x

  3. Great post. I have the nyx primer on my wish list. I used their honey dew primer and I liked that so I want to try this one next for my pores.

  10. I love the NYX highlighting palette! It has my favourite highlighters from the drugstore. I need to try their Pore Filler primer, I've tried Angel Veil which I love but it doesn't do the trick on my t-zone. The Bourjois powder is on my wishlist as well :)x
