In the famous words of Smithy "IT'S CHRRIIIIISTTTMMAASS" OK maybe not just yet, but can you blame me? Oxford Street has already turned on the Christmas lights, Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You" has definitely been played on the radio and I've decided it's totally acceptable to wear my Christmas themed pajamas. Although I grew up in Switzerland and trust me, they do Christmas markets and Christmas themed events realllllyyy weelll there is something really festive about November and December in London. With over a bajillion things to do I've picked out my favourite things to do in London this Winter.
Looking for a cinema that's more than just a projector? Backyard Cinema is London's immersive cinema in Clapham Common, Winterville where before taking your seats to watch your film, you get to explore the secret enchanted forest and tunnels making for perfect photo opportunities. Rather than being stuck in uncomfortable upright seats, lay back on bean bag chairs, snuggle under a blanket and enjoy whatever festive film you desire. I've been now to two Backyard Cinema's and have loved every moment, my most recent being the Christmas Labyrinth to see Mary Poppins. With films ranging from The Greatest Showman, Love Actually, Elf and Home Alone there's something for everyone!
OK guaranteed not the most original but you just can't go wrong. With a beautiful backdrop this is my favourite place to skate in London during the Christmas time. Personally I find the one in Winter Wonderland far too small and crowded but the Natural History Museum always makes it feel extra special with a gorgeous Christmas tree in the middle of the ice rink, just don't forget to bring your hats and gloves!
I've been to the Water Brothers Studio Tour twice now and I honestly think it's the best thing in existence, if I could go every month I totally would. During Halloween and Christmas time they especially theme-up the rooms and honestly it is breathtaking. I know that they do a Christmas dinner in the great hall, but it's pretty darn pricey at £240 pp so personally I'd just go for the Christmas experience, enjoy all the props and behind-the-scenes info also makes for a great Christmas present!
4. Check out all the Christmas emporiums
Right so maybe not just one activity here, but I fully believe in going to as many Christmas emporiums and floors as possible. I'm talking John Lewis, Selfridges, Harrods and Liberty. And even better, you don't actually need to buy anything to feel festive I literally go and stare in awe at all the baubles and decorations far too fancy for me!
Something I've never done but really want to do is go to Kew Gardens. However, I have heard that it's even better at Christmas time. They have over a million twinkling lights and laser beams at the botanical gardens and can you think of anything better than mulled wine whilst walking along the garden trail. Festive AF.
I think seeing a theater show whether it's a Christmas panto or just on the west end if one of my favourite Christmassy activities. I think it's the time of year where everything is a little treat and there are so many amazing shows on at the moment. My suggestions would be Aladdin, The Lion King, Book of Mormon, The Play That Goes Wrong and Dream Girls as every single one has taken my breath away either from laughter or from song!
Let me know in the comments below any suggestions you have! My Christmas tree is finally going up next week so I'm desperate to really get into the Christmas spirit!
I went to Winter Wonderland last year and although beautiful it's SO pricey! The ice skating and cinema ideas sound SO romantic!

I totally agree, it's so so pricey there to do anything and tbh I don't think the ice rink is the best there, definitely would rather go elsewhere but it's almost like you can't not go to Winter Wonderland! xx
