Top 18 in 2018

Uhm so 2018 is over. When did that happen!? As you can see from the state of my beautiful Rifle Paper Co Diary, it's been a busy year and it definitely took a bashing.  I literally have had the craziest and best year. From starting a new job which I was absolutely bricking to booking some incredible holidays, it's been one surreal and crazy year. As per tradition (2016 & 2017 here) I've put together my Top 18 moments in 2018. Also *disclaimer* these are in chronological order rather than in order of ..."topness" if that makes sense!

1. Started A New Job
Last December I handed in my resignation to my first ever job, the only place I'd ever worked and took on a role as a Publicist at a TV production company. I've been able to work on shows I would only have dreamed of and have literally have the most incredible team.

2. First Ever work trips abroad; Cape Verde, Barcelona, Sardinia, Crete
With the new job I've also been so fortunate to travel with my team on to four locations. Although work trips aren't all a jolly and definitely hard work I've made some incredible memories with my team and cast.

3. Iceland for Dad's 60th
For my Dad's 60th Birthday we decided to do a family trip to Iceland. Us four went to Iceland for just over 5 days and were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights honestly I can't tell you how lucky I feel,  travel round the Golden Circle, take a dip in the Blue Lagoon and eat a hell of a lot of fish.

4. 24th Birthday
Obviously with every year I also grow a year older. I spent the weekend before my birthday with all my friends but on my actual birthday we actually held a launch party for a new series of a show so although I was working, my team surprised me with cupcakes and flowers and actually spent most of the night eating, drinking and dancing!

5. Disneyland Paris
Over Easter two of my friends and I went to Paris for a long weekend. We spent 2 days in Disneyland and one day in Paris and honestly had the best time ever. We cried watching the illumination and fireworks display and nearly died on the Tower of Terror (I sobbed like a baby). I already want to go back next year!

6. Taylor Swift
My flatmate and I booked tickets to see Taylor in Manchester and what a performance. She was unreal and literally has rekindled my love for concerts all over again.

7. Loughborough
My flatmate and I traveled up to Loughborough (first time I'd ever been) to visit our friend Kate who was in her last year of uni. We relived our uni days taking shots at the SU and apparently we Insta-lived too from the queue...

8. Sardinia
My mum and I went to Sardinia for a week for a proper beach holiday. The nice part of Cagliari is that we had a bit of both, beach and city.

9. Rome
(Yes my flatmate and I do everything together) We went to Rome for a long weekend, well 48 hours and I have to say Rome has become my favourite European city. We walked so much, had a packed itinerary (here) which basically consisted of eating gelato and pasta at every given opportunity!

10. Guernsey
I'd never been to Guernsey before literally didn't know where it was when I first met my friend but I had been meaning to go for AGES as one of my friends from uni used to live there. We went for the August bank holiday and honestly I was blown away by the beautiful beaches there.

11. Spa Break
Clearly 2018 was the year of 'treat yo self'. One of my friends from uni and I had been meaning to do a spa break for years and we finally got round to doing it and it was sooo relaxing. We got a great deal at the Hilton in Syon Park London and basically lounged by the pool, had a jacuzzi, got massages and ate our way through the evening.

12. TV Choice Awards
Another work highlight was attending the TV Choice Awards. Being able to attend award shows is one of my favourite parts of my job. Although they can be highly stressful to logistically work out, when you finally get there its always such an amazing evening.

13. Spain
For a last bit of Summer sunshine I headed to Spain for 5 days with my Mum and Dad. They own a place out there so the town always feels like a second home to me. The weather was incredible considering it was October and seeing as my parent's live in Switzerland I don't get to see them that often so a bit of one on one time is always needed.

14. Lion King
I went and saw Lion King probably a good 10 years ago with my cousin and I have been desperate to see it again. I still felt just as emotional when they sang "He Lives in You" and it just made me feel all tingly on the inside cannot wait for the live action next year!!

15. Wales VS South Africa
I went to my first ever Rugby game and what a game! I had absolutely no idea what was going, there was fire, a goat and lots of beer but Wales won which made being in Cardiff that weekend definitely that little bit better!

16. Zurich Christmas Markets
Usually every year I like to try and go away to a European city for some Christmas markets but as I'm not spending Christmas in Zurich this year (see #17) my flatmate and I decided to go back to Zurich as it had been ages since I'd been home. Lots of Bratwurst, Gluehwein, Fondue and Ice Skating later I think we were a bit festived out!

17. A Welsh Christmas
This year I spent Christmas in Wales with my family (as one of my cousins has moved up there) and it was so nice to both have a bit of a different Christmas but also one of those massive Christmas' where it feels like you're a kid again. We went to a Carol service yup some of the songs were in Welsh only and went to go watch Mary Poppins on Christmas Eve.

18. Watched The Nutcracker Ballet
I've been a big fan of ballet ever since I was a kid and danced for 14 years, so when I got tickets from my mum for Christmas I was so excited. It really tied in Christmas and I actually really miss dancing, but I think I probably just miss the tutus more!

Let me know what some of your highlights of 2018 were in the comments below! Here's to 2019!

  1. Fave part of the whole thing "(Yes my flatmate and I do everything together)". Also I'm very happy Wales made it in twice. The promised land is wonderful. Only thing missing: you discovered a love of gin (one of my personal greatest achievements). Here's to more adventures and all the fun in 2019... <3
