2019 Goals - Where Am I At?

So we are somehow half way through 2019 and I can't actually believe it. Half of me thinks I've done so much already, and another half, is like "have I taken advantage enough of the first half of the year?!". I've never actually taken a look back on my goals, which sounds silly, I just write them up and forget that they actually existed... So for the first time in ever I wanted to give a little update on where I'm at. For reference here's my 2019 Goals Blog Post

My first goal was to visit more UK cities. One of the places on my list was Cambridge which I did actually visit over the bank holiday. There wasn't actually that much to do there but it made for a really nice day out! On my list was also Oxford which I still would love to do, potentially a Christmas market trip? So far I'd say I've mildly completed this one!

Of course being a Londoner, visiting more and more London attractions was on my list for this year. I I went on the Hidden Underground tour earlier this year and then to the National Transport museum . Technically not a London 'attraction' but I went to the Comedy Store and a couple of concerts too. One thing I still haven't managed to do is to visit Kew Gardens! With the weather finally picking up I'm thinking it would make a lovely Saturday adventure, just need to find a Saturday now!

Uhh so something that I don't think I'll manage this year is a Charity Run. Firstly, I cannot run. Well I used to not be able to which is exactly what put me off signing up for any. However saying that, I've actually started running on the treadmill at the gym and whilst before I used to not be able to run for longer than 3 minutes I didn't think I was that unfit I can actually do 20 mins straight running now. Maybe this is a goal I revisit for next year, when I know I'll actually be able to!

I think my goal to read 40 books was safe to say, a little bit of a stretch. I've currently read 8, and although I know I can get through a book a day when I'm on holiday, I just don't know if I'm ever going to manage 40! I've been reading a mixture between crime 'The Other Woman' by Sandie Jones, Historical Fiction with 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz' by Heather Morris (my first book of 2019) to Autobiographies including 'Becoming' by Michelle Obama. My one gripe is that it really annoys me how long it takes for paperbacks to come out! Thankfully I have a kindle, but as I do a lot of my reading on the tube, I hate lugging around a massive book! I've got a couple of more books on my to-read list, but any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

My last goal was to not put too much pressure on myself with this blog. This is one goal that I believe I've really achieved already. I used to be so obsessive about getting photos done on my weekends, making sure I had 3 blog posts a week but now I just write when I feel like it. I've learned to not force creativity. I used to get so frustrated when I had no blog post ideas but now I just know that they'll come as and when. It's made this blog feel much less like a chore and more like the hobby I enjoyed at the beginning!

Let me know if you had set any goals for 2019 and how you're getting on with them!

    1. Sometimes not setting goals is a good goal in itself ;) I don't usually set goals, nor did I actually revisit them but it's interesting to see how much you've done x

    1. It's definitely tough, especially when you've got a lot going on. I've found, not surprisingly, the better the book ,the better and quicker I am at finishing them so some really do take me a long time, and others I can complete in a week xx

  6. Loved this post. Very excited for both V&A (definitely an essential London visit!) and back yard cinema at the Roundhouse which I'm 100% counting as an attraction. I still have faith you're going to get those books read, some of the shorter lighter reading ones you'll fly through on our summer adventures. Can we have a mid-year what you've read so far and what you'd give each one out of 10 post please? xx
