5 TV Shows To Watch That Aren't Love Island

Hey I'm not denying it. I'm totally watching Love Island but I know that there are some people out there who just aren't into it and I'm here to tell you that there are plenty of other fab shows that you can watch right now, especially today seeing as Sunday's are practically dedicated to Love Island. So here we go,  5 shows below that I am utterly obsessed with at the moment, honestly it baffles me how I have time to keep up with so many shows.

I saw a couple of people tweeting about this show and at first it didn't sound like something I would be remotely interested in, but after downloading it and watching 3 episodes on a flight, and then one on my way home on the tube journey, it's official, it's bloody fricking good. The Society is about a group of teenagers who come home from  a school trip to find out all their family and more seriously, all the adults in their town have vanished. They then go about setting up a 'new' society, and no spoilers, but as you can imagine, not everyone is on the same page on how this society should be run. It's a bit post-apocalyptic but not at all Riverdale teen-drama. It follows some pretty hard hitting story lines in it too.

I love a hospital drama, I was a big fan of House and actually of Grey's Anatomy too (but I think I gave up on that one when I got to like Series 6?) So when I saw New Amsterdam on Prime I was like, brilliant a brand new hospital drama. It's still got that bit of a cliché in it, brand new doctor comes in to 'shake things up', there always a hospital romance and a doctor who is ill (can you all see a pattern in hospital dramas or is it just me?) BUT I binged this crazy quickly. I really like the characters and some of the storylines are really good too, although there was a massive cliffhanger at the end of Series 1 and I'm like....great.....when's Series 2 coming out?!

Another one I'm sure you've seen everywhere but I really enjoyed this. It's quite an odd genre of a TV show, almost like a rom com, thriller mixed with self-help (?) but that's what I've really enjoyed about it. Sometimes you get a really happy-go lucky episode, and sometimes it's quite heavy. It follows the friendship of two women who meet at a loss/widows support group. They become unlikely friends but of course their friendship and their stories aren't all what it seems.

I think Below Deck is probably my most talked about TV show on this blog. I've been fully obsessed with it for years and years and finally the new series has come out! hayu if you didn't know is a reality TV streaming service and has loads of shows like Real Housewives and the Kardashians on it. Below Deck follows a group who work on chartered ships where they all have their different duties as Bosun, interior crews and of course there is the Captain. There's always the dramas of crew getting with crew...and sometimes guests, but it's such a great easy watch I love it. Honestly the first ep was bloody hilarious, this new cook served like, el paso style hard shell tacos...on a 5 star chartered yacht. Amazing.

Another show that is also back is Killing Eve! I mean I'm not sure how Killing Eve is back before The Crown which I'm still waiting for... but I'm so excited. I really did enjoy Killing Eve, and although I did think the ending was a bit cliche of the last series and 'meh here we go for a second series' but I do think both Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are fantastic actors!

So I may have a million things I'm watching at the moment, but let me know in the comments below what you've been watching and if you have any recommendations....might even be...dare I say it? Love Island?

  5. I am very much still a loyal Grey's fan and totally agree on New Amsterdam. Can't wait for season 2! Also Below Deck Med S4 is turning out to be way more dramatic than we could've hoped, such a great show. Very happy Big Little Lies is back again, AND I've been giving What If a go... odd concept but it's watchable. x
