4 Red Lips You Need This Season

If there's one shade of bold lipstick I own far too much of, it's red. Whether that's an orange red, true red, blue red, burnt red, I love a red lipstick. I feel like a red lipstick can take any of your outfits to looking 100% more effortful. I thought I'd let you know 4 of my all time favourite red lipsticks and why you need them this season.

Mac Matte Lipstick 'Russian Red' is hands down my most worn red lipstick to date. I think I've actually gone through 2 of these now and it's probably a lipstick I will forever repurchase. I know everyone is obsessed with Lady Danger, but for me it's a bit too neon, and I tend to wear red lipsticks to warm me a bit more during the Winter months. Although it's got a blue and cool tone to it, it's still a deep and warm shade. I tend to prefer my red and bold lipsticks in a matte formula like this one, as they require a bit less maintenance throughout the day and are much more long wearing.

Mac Matte Lipstick 'Chilli'  is a shade that I thought I would never really wear as it's quite orange and brown toned, but I love this lipstick for a night-out. It's still extremely wearable and I think just ads a bit more than your usual block red lipstick. Pair it with a cozy dark beige jumper and you're onto a winner. Although matte, it's still really comfortable to wear throughout the day and I don't find it feathers or fades if paired with a lip liner.

Rouge Dior Ultra Care Lipstick '999' I won this lipstick in a competition with JadeAnnLoves and Dior along with a foundation review to come and I'm totally and utterly obsessed. Wait do you have to disclaim gifted items from competitions? These ASA guidelines are getting out of hand. I've actually never owned a Dior lipstick, but surely at £24 it's got to be good right? Right. It's a bloomin' gorgeous lipstick. Not only is the shade absolutely stunning, a shiny bright red, what I love the most is the formula. Like I said, I am much more of a matte bold lipstick girl, but I'm so impressed with this lipstick. Infused with flower oil, it's incredibly moisturising yet still long wearing.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick 'Bond Girl' - And for those who aren't into the traditional reds, I give you the berry red which is still counting as a red. I think this is one of the most sophisticated shades of red I possibly own. It looks a lot mauvier in the swatch can we talk about shitty winter photo lighting for a minute? but it still does have that classic red undertone under it. I wear this very often for work if I'm looking for a bold lip that isn't too in your face but isn't a nude. Plus, CT Matte formula is like no other matte formula out there, talk about silky smooth goodness.

What's your favourite and go-to red bold lipstick? Let me know!

  2. I love Russian Red, definitely my favourite red. I'm starting to get into wearing chili but it is quite a tricky colour to wear.

  3. Russian red is a classic pick, but I like Charlotte Tilbury's Red Carpet Red a little more, as the formula is slightly more comfortable to wear. Nars Audacious Lipstick in Olivia and the Velvet lip pancil in Cruella are also favourites of mine. I also adore Lisa Eldridge's Velvet Jazz - it's the perfect dark red for Fall. x
