Things to Do in London This Winter

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and in London, the festive spirit is definitely among us. In London there are a literal thousand things to do to get you in that festive spirit, but I thought, as a Londoner for a solid 3 years, I would share my top things to do this winter.

So my flatmate and I have always gone to the Natural History for ice skating, but this year we thought that we would switch it up a little and go to the Somerset House. Apart from the fact that it's closer to our flat and we've never been, it's honestly one of the most spectacular rinks. It's such a gorgeous location and it's just the most festive backdrop.

The Winter time is the best time to treat yourself to booking events and tickets to get you through the couple of months of cold. I recently went to go watch Come From Away which was absolutely incredible. It follows the story of a small Canadian town called Gander and follows the story of how during the September 11 attacks, they took in thousands of stranded travellers. It was an incredibly moving music and was just a reminder of how kind humanity can be during the darkest of times.

I mean to me, nothing says Christmas like the ballet. Last Christmas my family and I went to go watch The Nutcracker, and this year my Mum and I went  to go see Sleeping Beauty. It was an incredibly beautiful performance. I've always loved the ballet, and to me it's just amazing to watch the amount of strength, poise and more incredibly, the amount of pointe work they did.

Aladdin Feast of Wonders

Looking for a bit of a different kind of theatre? Get yourself immersed in the Aladdin Feast of Wonders, a drag show loosely based and I mean very loosely Aladdin. A cabaret fun filled drag show you start the night by watching a show and then move onto a 5 course meal. Now I'm not sure I would say it was a 5 course meal literally don't even remember seeing the 5th course but it was a hell of a lot of fun if you love a night of drag kings and queens.

Selfridges Christmas Emporium

Is it Christmas without visiting a Christmas emporium? Whether it's the one in Liberty, Harrods or Selfridges an emporium is the place to go if you need to be tempted into all the Christmassy things. My favourite emporium will forever be the one at Selfridges as quite often during the weekends they have choirs and/or a DJ playing Christmas tunes throughout.

Christmas Movies at the Cinema

I mean I feel like we are very in which we've had two  Christmas movie choices to go watch at the Cinema this year. I love going to the cinema generally, to me it's such a great evening out and I think it makes movie watching just that little bit more exciting.   Whether it's Last Christmas which was absolutely dreaful probably wouldn't reccomend but hey, it was midlly festive  or Frozen 2 which I am yet to see and really want to go see, it's a time to get yourself out of the house and treat yourself to that popcorn or ben & jerry's ice cream whilst crying to George Michael's Last Christmas.
