My 2020 Goals

So here we are, hello 2020! I have to say, after quite an eventful 2019 I'm really looking forward to 2020. Last year my 2019 goals were as I put it 'more on the realistic front' (see post here). Before diving into my 2020 goals, I thought I'd quickly review where I finally got to with my 2019 goals.

One of my first goals was to visit more UK cities and I have to say I definitely did more of that this year including trips to York and Cambridge. Secondly was visiting more London attractions. I've definitely seen more plays, immersive experiences, Postal Museums/Transport Museums etc, but there are still a few I didn't manage! Reading 40 books....was a bit of a stretch, but this year I did manage 21 which I think is still an accomplishment! I didn't do a charity run...but my flatmate and I did do the 10K walk for Shelter through London, so I'm counting that...and finally my blog. I've definitely been better at not putting far too much pressure on this blog and just enjoying whatever content comes.

So here we go, my 2020 goals!

Take up a new hobby - Whether that's ballet I have a taster class tonight for a course or maybe revisit swimming or a racket sport, I'm keen to add another exercise hobby to my routine and one that I really enjoy and look forward to much more than my 7am HIIT classes.

Read Different Book Genres - I'm still going to give myself a goal of reading 25 books this is a bit more realistic than last years, as I know I can complete it but I want to read some different genres. I tend to stick a lot into fiction, chic lit during the summer mainly and crime novels. So I want to branch out a bit more, read some more non fiction books and biographies.

Plan A Dream Holiday - I have a couple of places on my to-go list this year, but one in particular is Vietnam. Ever since my university friend went to go visit it, I've been desperate to go, and fingers crossed 2020 is the year! I'm hoping my flatmate and I will be able to g for 2 weeks later in October, so here's to planning that ultimate trip.

Try and Embrace a bit More of Nature - Living in central London makes this one a little trickier, although yes there is Hyde Park, there's no better feeling than leaving the city and going on walks and adventures outside of London including the Coulsdon South Circular In Surrey and the Richmond Ham House walk.

Take Better Care of My Health - This year I felt as if I was sick quite often throughout the year, whether that was colds, bronchitis, strep infected ankle... I'm going to try and be conscious a bit more about my health. It seems already that what I'm doing is working, because I managed to avoid any Winter cold this month, so I'm going to keep up the Vitamin and water intake, eat better and stop stressing myself in my work life too much.

  1. Sounds like you had a successful 2019 in terms of working towards the goals you set! I too want to take up a new fitness style hobby, but balet is not one I thought of! Good luck with your goals for 2020! xx

  2. Good luck with your goals! I hope you're able to plan your holiday, travelling is always a good idea and visiting Vietnam sounds amazing xx

  3. Great goals! Health really is so important and all of the other goals depend on it. I think we're all guilty of taking it for granted sometimes so a reminder to take care of ourselves is a good thing. Best of luck x

  4. Hope you get your dream trip! Vietnam would be awesome - what an experience!

  5. I loved reading about your goals for the year ahead! You've got some great things to focus on. You've just reminded me that I need to set my 2020 reading goal. I set a small goal of 10 last year and managed to finish it by the end of the summer so I want to aim a little higher this year and read even more. I hope 2020 is a successful one for you x

  6. Reading is something I became obsessed with last year (from late april) and read a total of 49 books (though half of that was when i wasn't working. I've definitely had to accept that with the no. of books I can get through won't be as much and that's okay. Sometimes we turn reading into this race to get as many books read as possible but every book we finish should be a triumph in itself.

  7. May 2020 be a better year for all of us.
