5 Good Things #2

Hello to everyone and happy Wednesday! Before I begin this post I'd love you to quickly comment down below, one good thing that you've done this week/seen this week. No matter how big or small, let me know one good thing. I uploaded my first "5 Good Things" blog post the other day and thought perhaps it's something I'll do continuously, once a week, twice a week, just spreading a bit of positivity to everyone.

Blossom Trees - I've obviously been doing my most to self-distance and only go out when entirely necessary. I have been going on a daily walk and have noticed all the blossom trees have started to come out. Honestly the parks and roads have never looked so pretty, they have just really brightened up my week!

Writing letters to care homes - Across the world, with care homes closing their doors, it means now more than ever that their residents can be isolated and lonely during this time when they have no visitors. I heard from someone at work that there was a care home down the road from her that was asking for letters to their residents. I then did a little bit of research and found this website here Anchor Hanover who have a load of care homes across the country asking for #BeKindToOneAnother letters to their residents. You can type in your postcode and find a care home closest to you. I also joined this group on Facebook called "Postcards of Kindness" who also have a long list of care homes you can write to. All it takes is an introduction to yourself, something you've done that day, a fun fact, a chat about anything that can make them feel in company and get the residents talking to one another.

Virtual Pub Quiz - My flatmate and our friends decided that on Sunday we would come together for a weekly FaceTime pub quiz. We all were given one round each to come up with questions, this week I had TV. We then had a sheet of paper in front of us where we would write all the answers down. It was absolutely hilarious, and although I lost (no surprise there), it really took our mind off everything for an hour and a bit! Our rounds were; TV, Music, Film, General Knowledge (2020), Food & Drink and Sport (which I did shocking in). See if you can grab your friends for a pub quiz!

Finishing a book - This week I've finished my most recent read Us by David Nicholls. I absolutely loved his first book, One Day, and I loved this book equally as much. It follows the story of a family; Connie, Douglas and their son Albie. Connie has decided she wants to leave Douglas, and with their son going off to College too, Douglas finds that he's going to be left alone. He tries to resolve it by still going on their family 'grand tour' trip they had planned around Europe. I absolutely loved the characters in this book, could totally visualise every inch of the book as well. I've also seen that the BBC are creating a four-part drama based on the book last year which I really hope I get to watch sometime soon!

Surprise Parcels - Because it was my birthday last week I received a couple of surprise parcels in the post which insanely brightened my day. Firstly was a lovely Letter Box Hamper from my team at work which was filled with some immense snacks. This is such a lovely gift and they have so many to chose from, so if you know anyone whose isolated they can get a little gift through their letter box. Another adorable parcel that came through was some gorgeous flowers from my friend for my birthday which really brightened up my day. They're from a company Flowerbe Not On The High Street - and honestly they are so beautiful and look like forest flowers. They're also perfect because they fit in your post box to so are a perfect gift!

  5. Blossom trees are just so gorgeous aren't they. Especially when they have a back drop of a blue sky, with no clouds to be seen. Given all this social distancing, I did a garden work out this morning, and I definitely feel that my day has gotten off to a better start. Stay safe lovely x

  7. Oh wow, such a lovely post - and very much needed. For me it has to be just taking the time to appreciate the sunrise each day; rather than rushing for my commute, I can actually take those moments to properly enjoy it. Hope you stay safe and well.
