It is so tempting to sit in your pyjamas when you're working from home, trust me I know, hands up I did it on my first day but it actually made me feel 10x more sluggish and less productive. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to put on a full face of makeup, or put on a dress, but simply taking a shower as you normally would, and putting on an outfit gets you into the headspace.
2. Video Call Rather Than Phone Call
This kind of sits with the first one, I find that a video call is a lot more personable than a phone call. It gives you more of a reason to take that shower/get dressed appropriately, but it's also nice to have a face to talk to rather than just over the phone. On my birthday, my team had a video call where they had candles ready and sang happy birthday which meant so much and makes you feel part of a team.
3. Separate your work space from your personal space
I know how tempting it is to work from your comfy sofa or bed, but not only is that not exactly the best for your posture, but by giving yourself a specific area for work you can actually separate your home life to your work life. My flatmate and I work from our dining room table, which means our bedrooms and our living room area is kept separate and is our relaxing space.
4. Create a work friendly environment
Just because it's a dining room table, or an office doesn't mean it can't be friendly. Candles or some fresh flowers can make for a happier environment. Naturally if you can't get any flowers because you're self isolating, how about having the radio on? I love listening to Heart Breakfast in the morning or Capital Breakfast as it just fills up the silence.
5. Take Breaks As You Usually Would
It's important to try and not over work yourself as well. There's almost this sense of trying to 'overkill' your work and try and prove that you're not skiving just because you're WFH. Make sure you go and take your hours lunch break. Whether that's going on a walk (if you can) or reading a book, it's important to get some normality in your schedule. Also don't forget to take a breather, make a cup of tea, have that 'water cooler' chat time with your flatmate/family members.
Let me know if you've got any tips on working from home in the comments below!
Great tips! I always try to get dressed, and then work from a desk rather from the bed so I'm not tempted to go back to sleep. Lovely post :)

DeleteLove these tips and ideas! Getting up and getting ready like you usually would is so important. I've been working from home for about a year now and I still get up, get ready and start the day the same way I would if I was to go out to work. It's such an important step that can really set you up for the day xx

DeleteDefinitely so important to creat separate spaces for work and relaxing. Not good to relax if the two end up crossing.
