A Day In Lockdown Diary

Some of my favourite blog posts to read are everyone's "a day in" diaries. With lockdown, I think our day to day schedules are forever changing, whether that's they've become more scheduled or less scheduled, I thought I'd share a day in lockdown for me, one of my busiest ones probably. Although important to note not all days are like this at all. Some days there's nothing better than just doing nothing, enjoying doing nothing and I definitely have those days too!

Wednesday 29th April

8:00am - On a day where my flatmate and I try and fit in a work out, whether that's Yoga or more of a HIIT workout , we get up around 8am, get dressed into our workout gear and then set-up in the living room. That morning we fit in a Yoga With Adriene. We're currently doing her Home  - 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene challenge. We're on day 10 at the moment. Her videos vary sometimes between 15 minutes or 30 minutes, depending on which day but they are a nice way to either start or end the day.

9.00am - I start work at 9am. I work in PR for a radio company, so mornings are our busiest of times as we have all the guests for the breakfast shows to pitch out and as I work across multiple radio shows, it's all about prioritising which guests and which radio shows.

10.30am - This is about the time I give myself a quick break, have a cup of tea. I find it really important to almost replicate my work days. At my office we tend to have tea runs throughout the day we are big tea lovers so popping the kettle on, even if it's just for 10 minutes, is a nice way to get away from the screen for a second.

1.00pm - I try and extend myself to not eating lunch until 1pm, which can be increasingly difficult as I'm constantly hungry really. Lunch can vary from anything from leftovers from the night before , tuna melts, or my current favourite; spaghetti hoops on toast. Am I 26 or 6? Our company is very insistent on us taking our hour long breaks as they're aware of us spending so much time on screens, so whether I go on a nice long walk tbc on the weather or have a reading break, the hour is really lovely.

4.00pm - At 4pm every day we have a daily team meeting which is really lovely as all of us just catch-up on anything, any fun news stories of the day. I look forward to the 4pm meeting as it's really a way to remember that you're part of a team and that even though you're working from home, it's still one joint company and team.

5.30pm - I finish work at half 5 which is quite nice as it gives me at least an hour and a half before dinner to just chill or, in my case, do the chores including the ironing, washing, dishwasher unloading, and all those glorious jobs that you can't get done.

6.00pm - My flatmate finishes at six, so she usually starts with making some sort of glorious dinner for us both which usually consists of carbs, because carbs are life. We then sit down and watch a bit of Game Of Thrones which we have been completely binging at the moment - we literally only have like 8 episodes left sob

7.30pm - If it's any other day, we'll literally just watch TV until it's time for bed, but this Wednesday we had my family pub quiz. Each week is a different theme, and each of us is given a topic to write questions out for. To make it even more fun, we've started to include dressing up. This week was 'The Natural World' and we've got the topic of UK Wildlife, so I went as a deer, and my flatmate as a butterfly (check the Insta for makeup looks). Think spray paint, coco pops cereal boxes. We've done dressing up as Queens, music artists, bunnys for easter and it's hilarious to see what everyone dresses up as.

9.30pm - We'll probably finish the quiz at like half 8, so after half a bottle of wine and an hour of brain power, we'll probably just watch a bit more Game of Thrones honestly what are we going to do when we finish it.

10.00pm - I'm a bit of a loser and need my sleep desperately, so usually take myself to bed around 10pm. I can easily fall asleep straight away, but 10 hours is a bit ridiculous for a 26 year old, so I usually read for about half an hour or an hour. At the moment I'm reading Blood Orange. I find reading to bed a nice way to wind down, although sometimes after half a bottle I'm guilty of falling straight to sleep.

Let me know in the comments below if your day is like mine, and if you've found that you've been keeping more of a schedule or less of a schedule during lockdown!
