Keeping Busy At Home

With more time being spent inside I thought I'd write up a couple of things I'm doing to keep busy at home over the next couple of days/week.

Binge

Take this time to finally binge watch all those shows that you've been meaning to watch. Killing Eve is back, The Nest, Quiz are both on my lists to watch. I've also been binge watching Game Of Thrones along with Our Girl and Made In Chelsea. There is seriously so much to watch at the moment and you have absolutely nothing to feel guilty for watching it.

Read

Find yourself a cosy corner in the house, light a candle, grab a cup of tea and get through that 'to-read' pile. If you need any inspiration, I highly recommend downloading the Good Reads app. I've finished quite a few books in lockdown including The Lido by Libby Page which was a gorgeous read, Expectation by Anna Hope and am now on Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I've popped mine here in case you want any inspiration on what I've been reading/want to read.

Scrapbook

Take this time to scrapbook. I know that a lot of us have had to cancel plans/holidays but how about taking this time to think back on them, scrapbook your favourite travel memories/out and about or family memories. I tend to get my photos printed at LA LA LAB as they have a load of different kinds of prints and they've said they're still delivering along with Snapfish. Companies like Paperchase, Amazon and Ryman's are still delivering loads of stationary including scrapbook books.

Declutter

Not exactly the most fun, but this is the perfect opportunity. I've tackled the man drawer, boiler cupboard, storage cupboard, lampshades, skirting boards, drinks shelves. Anything dusty, I guarantee I've dusted it. I also feel as if there is an incredible amount of satisfaction from cleaning!

Take a break from the screen

Although binging is on my list I’m trying to consciously make sure I’m giving myself enough screen-free time. With working from home I’m spending more and more time at my computer so I’ve found a couple of things perfect for this. Adult colouring in books are perfect and can still be purchased off amazon and in the same category, maybe some paint by numbers. Doing puzzles is an amazing way to pass the time, over bank holiday we completed a 1,000 piece and the hours literally fly by.

Pamper

With everything going on in the world, take the opportunity to have your weekends makeup-free. Draw yourself a nice bath, pop on a Facemask and read one of those books that's been on your list for ages. Take the time out to actually zone out from your phone, and if you're feeling incredibly boujee grab yourself a glass of wine or a hot chocolate.

Keep Active

Whether it's creating your own exercise regime yourself or following a YouTube video, we all know the affect it has one your body if you go from exercising 3x a week or however many to none. My flatmate and I went out to the park (social distancing safely of course) where we did a little regime I'd created. We also have created our own Zumba classes by using a combination of The Fitness Marshall's dance routines on Youtube and have also just started doing the 30 day Yoga Challenge with Yoga with Adriene which I didn't think I'd enjoy yoga but have surprised myself, it's a nice way to either start or end the day!

Bake

I know that getting some ingredients can be difficult so I've put this at the bottom of then list, but this is such a good activity for children and adults to get involved in. For kids it's a fab activity to learn about measurements/temperatures and teach them about where food comes from. This week my flatmate made these banana blueberry muffins recipe here. We're also going to attempt making my Grandma's infamous chocolate crumb to see if I can replicate it! I have a few recipes on my blog under Happy Eating here which hopefully can give you some inspiration!

What have you been doing to keep busy?

  1. I've been loving going for a run in the morning to wake up properly at the moment. Feeling grateful for living in the country, so I have lovely fields full of calves and lambs to pass. I'd love to get into doing some yoga!

  11. I can say that right now I am busy reading articles on how to prepare for my divorce. It's sad, but so real...Still, I have to be 100 per cent ready for it and try to improve my legal awareness. For example I have read in this article https://onlinedivorcer.com/blog/divorce-checklist-how-to-plan-your-divorce-properly I discovered that the permanent alimony could be applied in some cases and that's really astonishing to me.
