Switching Skincare this Spring at Home

As everyone who reads this blog regularly knows, I don't switch up skincare very often. I am a creature of habit and when I know something works for my skin, I don't tend to "try out" new things for the fear of break outs and allergic reactions. However, now that we've got time to be at home, and the only thing people are viewing me from is Zoom/FaceTime, I think I'm in a better position to have tried out and tested a few new bits to see whether or not they worked for me, and I can't believe it, but I've done a minor skincare switch-up!

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Defence Radiant Tint Protective Moisturiser* - what a mouthful. Although I still use my First Aid Beauty on a day to day basis, if I'm consciously going on a long walk one afternoon or am sitting out the back in the sun, I tend to use this. I usually put it on top of my normal moisturiser, because I am just a moisturiser lover. It's got SPF 30 which is fab as I always forget, that even though it's just Spring sunshine, it's still important to wear that SPF whenever you're out. Because it does have SPF in it, it does have a faint sun-lotion scent, but to be honest, I don't hate it, bring me those Summer/beach vibes.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream - I mean look, I"m never going to not use this moisturiser, it's just a given and my all time favourite holy grail. I've finally splurged on the ginormous pot, which I never really gave into as I needed the tube for travelling, but now seemed like the perfect time to purchase the pot. You get so much bang for your buck and it's just fabulous for really dry/sensitive skin.

Antipodes Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream* - I've never actually owned an eye cream, mainly because I find there are just so many out there and I'm not sure what I'm actually looking for in one. I don't suffer from bad eye bags as....well...I sleep a shit load ahaha but because of my dry skin, I do find that sometimes they can look a bit dull and dry. I added this into my skincare routine a couple of weeks ago using it both in the morning and in the evening and have found that my under-eyes do feel much more moisturised. I wouldn't necessarily say they are brighter, but I am really loving how much smoother they are.

Bio-Oil Bio-Oil - Now a bit of a rogue one to include, but now that I'm at home I've been using this as an opportunity to try and get some of my scars in check. I have a massive one on my ankle which hasn't been budging for a while so I've been finding sitting at my desk with bio-oil on it is a perfect way to make sure it's soaked in. I do think it's lightened in colour, and although it's expensive, I've researched and most people have said that this is the best product to use for scars.

Antipodes Baptise H20 Ultra Hydrating Water Gel* - I've been adding this into my daily skincare for about a week now. I was a bit reluctant as it contains rose which my skin doesn't tend to agree with, so it's a waiting game, but for the moment my skin is really enjoying the extra moisture. I put this on mainly in the evening, and have found my skin, especially around my chin has become a lot plumper and moisturised.

Have you tried any of the above/switched up any of your skincare routine in lockdown? Let me know in the comments below!

  5. Omg I didn’t know about the bio oil! Must really keep that one in mind and hopefully it works on acne scarring too.
I’ve used the BareMinerals mouthful moisturiser 😄😄, I use it more as a primer or, like you say, when I know I’m going for a walk. I don’t mind it but it’s not my fave. I’ve got a similar blog post coming up as I’ve been switching up a few products in my skincare routine lately. Lovely read, this one! x

    1. Oh yeah I'm not sure about it on acne scarring. Mine is quite a hefty scar so I'm not thinking it will automatically disappear ! xx
