New Homeware Loves

Now that we're spending a lot more time at home, I've found myself finally getting round to look into homeware a bit more. I will put my hands up and say I hate clutter and I am a full on minimalist, so homeware purchasing has never been my strongest trait. However saying that, I feel as if I've definitely come round to finding more products for the flat, that still fit my minimalist taste but still make the flat feel a bit less cold and more 'lived in'

It took me some time to find out which plant I liked the most and the words "unkillable" definitely is what made me sway to Sharon. Sharon was kind of the starting point to buying all the homeware during lockdown. I've never purchased a house plant other than a succulent or cactus and I'm not the most green fingered unless it comes to bouquets of flowers, so I needed something that was easy and that would work in our living room. She seems to like this corner, we have bay windows with shutters so it's a good amount of light that comes through. I had no issues with Patch Plants, she arrived promptly and by hand delivery and will definitely order through them again!

Of course Sharon couldn't just be in an ordinary pot. Well actually she was in a white bin originally, but we did want that to then sit inside a nice looking jute basket. Hilariously,  we originally found one on Etsy which was "100% handmade in Scotland." It finally turned up 8 weeks later, in a packet from China, handmade I don't think so. So instead, we got this one from trusty IKEA which is adorable and the perfect size. We got one with a bit of white on the bottom of it so it matches with the flat as well.

I'd never ordered from Wayfair and was a little apprehensive. We had a corner in our living room that we thought a step ladder shelf would look perfect in. I ordered this when it was on sale for £57 and I have to say I am so pleased with it. It arrived promptly, literally I think it came next day delivery and wasn't that horrific to put together. We haven't actually fixed it into the walls that's a job for my dad to do but for the moment used command strips at the top. I love shelves like this as they're a way to add a bit of a decor, but obvs not too much to your home.

4. Lots of other Plants

So alongside Sharon, we have gotten a couple of more plants for the flat. One of them was a succulent from M&S. I think we may have overwatered her in the first instance, because she hasn't been the happiest, but she came in a lovely little pot and hopefully will continue to not die on us. We also purchased a gorgeous Snake Plant from our local florist Denise's Flowers.  I paid £24 for the plant and pot which I think was quite a good deal. My flatmate also got our string of pearls plant from her local florist at home (Penarth, Wales) Florist 64 which looks gorgeous on our ladder shelf.

During lockdown, when we weren't able to go home, I thought the best way to give a little nod to our home homes would be to get ourselves some prints, make us feel a little bit less homesick. My flatmate got her hometown in Wales and I got Zurich where I grew up and my parents/brother still live. I think these look so gorgeous on the shelf and would make even a lovely gift for someone. We ummed over a lot of different brands, but I liked the simplicity of these ones. We got one in A4 and A5 to mix it up and then got the frames from this seller on NotOnTheHighstreet

I went back and forth a hundred times on what type of rug to buy for the living room. I tried getting a big one for the middle of the room, but I think we'd really need a ginormous one and to be honest, I don't trust the spillages that could come with it, so for now, I loved the idea of getting a light jute rug for all of our plants to sit on in the corner. Almost like a terrarium area. It was hard to find a jute rug that was light in colour rather than the classic jute brown but I found this one on Maison Du Monde and loved it. The tassles are extra cute too and match our pillows. The one thing I will say is the delivery is pricey, but thankfully I loved it so was worth the delivery.

Lastly for our hallway I found this adorable prints that say Gincident and 'Scaccident' off Etsy. I got them both as A3 sizes which was £11 each. Unfortunately they don't come framed, which was a bit of a struggle to find white A3 frames, but eventually found these A3 frames on Etsy. I'm not a big fan of art, let alone wall art, so I wanted something minimal that would still add something to the walls.

Let me know if lockdown has made you as obsessed with homeware as it's made me and also if you've purchased anything recently.
