How to Brunch At Home

Sadly gone are the days of heading to The Breakfast Club and Dishoom for brunch with the girls on a Sunday, but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate a brunch date at home - with the bank holidays upon us, get ready to host your own brunch at home.

Choose Your Meal

I really vary what I like to eat for my brunch. I'm a big avocado and halloumi on sourdough kind of girl. I love a bit of crushed avocado with crushed plum tomatoes on fresh bread and some fried halloumi on top, talk about a salt kick.

However sometimes you can never go wrong with a good old pancake if you're in the mood for sweetness. We tried the Jamie Oliver American Style Pancake Recipe for the first time last weekend and honestly they were delicious. So light and fluffy and probably my favourite American pancake recipe as usually I find they can be quite stogy. I obviously went for the light and healthy nutella and strawberry's - honestly there is nothing better than that duo if you ask me.

If you're not a fan of those thick American pancakes, I don't think you can ever go wrong with a crepe for brunch either. Savoury or sweet it's an all rounder recipe here

Also why not make your brunch boujee, grab some prosecco and orange juice and have some mimosas or just have your orange juice in a champagne flute, because we can.

Choose Your Date

The best thing about a brunch is that you don't need to get up ridiculously early, and now with lockdown, you literally don't even need to treck far, roll out of bed straight into the kitchen and living room. My flatmate and I decided to actually sort a brunch with two of our friends over zoom. Although they went down the Chinese leftover takeaway route for their brunch, it almost felt like a proper catch-up and meet-up with friends.

Create a Setting

With the sunshine out our flat is almost looking ten times more brighter. Buy yourself some fabulous flowers to give yourself the real aesthetic, set up your dining room table with your finest dishware in our case, it's Matalan, I'm not at the age yet where I have a fine dining set, and prop up your laptop for that zoom date.

Let me know if you've been doing any at home brunch dates during lockdown!

  5. I love making brunch at home, it always feels like a treat! Which is great because it's so much cheaper to cook brunch foods at home than going to a cafe (though I love doing that too.) I'm a big fan of crushed avocado on toast too, but often I go for pancakes with bacon, cinnamon sugar and sirup - very indulgent, but also super good!
