AD | Summer Skin At Home With Boots

This post is an advertisement feature with Boots UK but all thoughts are my own

During lockdown I've definitely been taking more time in my day to to care for my skin. Self care at home has become more and more important in a way to relax and take time for yourself, and with Summer on its way, I've also been ensuring my skin is prepped for the sun and has the right protection and care.

I usually spent a lot more time on my evening routine however during lockdown, I've been taking more time in the morning to ensure my skin is prepped for the day ahead and luckily Boots have such a wide variety of different brands and products on their website in their Boots Skincare and Best skincare products section.

My Morning Skincare Routine

1. I think starting your morning or day with a good skincare cleanser is the most important. You want your skin to get a good deep clean, to wash away any of this impurities that may be sitting on your skin before you put anything else on top of it. As someone with more sensitive skin, I look for a cleanser that not only cleans, but also doesn't aggravate my skin. The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser* is a favourite amongst the beauty community and I can see why. Enriched with cocoa butter perfect for those with dry skin it removes grime and makeup in a gentle way making your skin feel clean and balanced. I go in with a small pump in the morning and using the muslin cloth provided in this set I gentle massage my face and neck with it.

2. When my skin is feeling that extra bit off balance, I go in with the Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Exfoliating Cleanser*. This has been a product mentioned countless times on my blog as it's a holy grail to me. Whether you've had a funny break out, or sometimes in the Summer I get a bit of funny skin texture due to the heat this cleanser is a gentle exfoliation and restores the PH balance. I only use this once or twice a week but it's enough to restore my skin back to normality!

3. As I suffer with such dry skin I always use a strong moisturiser on any parts of my skin where it gets especially dry such as my nose, forehead and chin area. The Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream* is your go-to if you're looking for something to soothe and heal dry skin patches. As I use a SPF that acts as a moisturiser below, if I am looking for that little surge of moisture in certain areas, I simply dab a little and gentle rub in. This product caters for the entire family; children, babies and adults so you know that it's perfect for those with more sensitive skin.

4. Lastly, before you go out into your garden to enjoy the sunshine with Summer on its way, SPF is incredibly important to incorporate into your skincare regime. Factor 50 is incredibly important especially on your face to protect from the UVA and UVB rays which is why the Avene B-Protect SPF 50* is my suncream of choice. It's ingredients are aimed towards those with sensitive skin and are there to protect you from UVB and short and long UVA rays.

  20. Migraines are estimated to effect up to a ¼ of the British population. Chronic migraines are estimated to affect 2% of the population. These are defined as headaches on at least 15 or more days per month of which at least 8 days are migraine. Botox carefully administered in medical doses has been clinically proven to reduce the frequency of migraines and improve the quality of life in chronic migraine sufferers. According to the American Migraine Foundation ‘patients reported that 2 Botox courses reduced the number of headache days by 50%’.

This is a highly advanced medical procedure that we offer at Secret Aesthetics one which requires experience and expertise as it involves intramuscular injections in to the head and neck near several great arteries, veins and nerves that supply the brain.

  21. Many people both young and old are bothered by a sunken looking, fatigued appearance of their under eye area which despite adequate rest and cosmetic concealment attempts remain apparent. The 3-In-1 Eye Rejuvenation Tear Trough filler’, created by our founder Dr Naqvi, is a novel advanced technique that has been developed to address the most common under eye complaints of ‘eyebags’, ‘hollowness’, ‘dark circles’ and ‘puffiness’. A modified development of the tear trough filler, Dr Naqvi noticed markedly improved results as compared to the standard tear trough filler in his clientele.

There are several contributing factors to periorbital skin changes including genetic factors, prolapse of the orbital fat and prominent subcutaneous venous pooling which are all often refractory to dark circle treatment. The tear trough itself refers to the groove that leads from the inner eye corner down the mid-face, often deepening to a true indentation in susceptible individuals due to lifestyle factors and age. This line casts a dark shadow under the eye often contributing to the ‘tired’ look. Not everyone will be an ideal candidate for non-surgical treatments which is why we always offer consultation and facial analysis first.

  22. Excessive sweating can have a severe impact on our confidence and our quality of life. Botox is a NICE and FDA approved treatment for hyperhidrosis of the hands, feet, underarms, head and face amongst other discrete areas. Clinical studies consistently demonstrate the highest success rates of cure and/or relief. If you are finding that antiperspirants and deodorants are not working for you and you wish to avoid strong, time consuming chemical formulations such as aluminium hydroxide preparations and expensive treatments such as ionophoresis, then this is the treatment for you.
