2. Lift your mood with music. When I'm feeling a bit meh, music can make a massive difference, even if I'm cleaning the flat or working. Playlists of shower-singing appropriate songs, musicals or even, hell Christmas songs, pop your music on loud around the flat, or in your headphones, scream out loud, and listen to songs that really lift your mood.
3. Binge watch feel-good shows. I don't think I've ever watched more TV in my life than during lockdown. I've been binging masses of shows but some of my favourites to watch that are feel-good and just put me in a good mood are; Shitt's Creek, Bake Off, Queer Eye, Parks and Recreation, Gavin & Stacey, Modern Family,
4. Organize a pamper evening; I'm not just talking about having a bubble bath. I'm talking about the whole shebang. Light some candles around your home, settle for a cozy film, do your nails, grab a glass of wine, use that hairmask that's been in your cupboard for years I mean check the expiry date, finally use that boujee Christmas Laura Mercier bubble bath you've been meaning to use.
5. Treat yourself to some flowers - I think your home is the most important place if it can make you happy and having fresh flowers around is one of my favourite ways to lift my spirits. Some of my favourite letterbox flowers are from Bloom & Wild or even just some supermarket flowers are the best! These roses are from M&S and they're many days in and look so pretty.
6. Bake! I mean I'm not just saying this because Bake Off is on, but honestly nothing beats baking yourself something sweet when you're feeling a little low. One of my all time favourite pick me ups is a good old fashioned Victoria Sponge or a fresh batch of cookies. I've got a couple of recipes on my blog here
7. Read and take yourself to a happy place. I find that whatever I read can make a big difference to my moods. I'm talking I Heart New York, Shopaholic, Bridget Jones basically anything Lindsey Kelk, Sophie Kinsella vibes. And if you're not into the chic-lit genre, Charlie Mackesy's; The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse, is a beautiful read.
8. Have a dance. We've all heard exercise releases those endorphins, but if the prospect of working out is that little bit daunting and just awful sometimes, dancing is the best alternative. The Fitness Marshall is probably one of my favourite finds this year, all of his dance routines have different levels, but who doesn't want to dance along to Cher, Lizzo, Dua Lipa and The Pussycat Dolls.
9. Go for a walk. It may sound super simple, but never have I been so grateful for doing something as simple as taking a walk. The fresh air really lifts my spirits, and although I live in the city, and green spaces aren't that 'to come by', the local parks, or even taking yourself out of the city for a forest walk, I don't think you can beat the fresh air!
10. Get crafty - and this is coming from someone who is very uncrafty. Whether it's scrapbooking, paint by numbers, colouring in or puzzling (I mean puzzling isn't exactly crafty) but something to take your mind off your phone, or technology which I can find sometimes daunting if I spend too much time on, is being able to just do something relaxing. Also what I love about doing something more crafty, is you can feel accomplishment when you finish it!
Let me know what you do to lift your spirits in the comments below!
I adore Schitt's Creek and Gavin & Stacey - anything that gives that warm, fuzzy feeling! We have an Indian every Saturday since lockdown started - it's just our weekly treat! Music is great for getting you out of a funk and I love to chat to my niece on the phone too - she's always so happy! Great post! x
