Christmas Reads

Tis the season for the Christmas content to begin, Falalalala - yes it's happening. Personally I think I'm quite late in the Christmas blogging game. I'm not usually someone who amends my reading genre due to the seasons obviously chic-lits are dedicated to tanning and cocktail by the pool weather but this year I've found myself purchasing two Christmassy books, and thought I'd actually do a recommendation on some festive reads.

Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

I adored the shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella and it's been forever since Sophie Kinsella released one of her books. This actually came out last year, but I wanted to get my hands on the paperback version instead so kept waiting. If you've not read the Shopaholic series you 100% need to, it's such a feel-good easy read. Becky Bloomwood, the #1 shopaholic, is back and it's festive as hell. If you're looking for a laugh out loud book this season, Shopaholic is for you.

Chicken Soup for the Soul - Christmas

A book recommended by my flatmate, Chicken Soup is a series of books which is an amalgamation of true short stories, poems as a form of a self-help book. My flatmate swears by these books, saying they're truly inspiration, heartwarming and perfect for Christmas.

 I Heart Christmas Lindsey Kelk

Now technically you'll need to read all the other I Heart novels (there are 8 in total) but I remember I Heart Christmas being one of my favourite reads from the series. The books follow Angela's life as she moved to New York and subsequently her whole life changed. The I Heart series, is just like the shopaholic series, but much more British. I adore Lindsey's writing and Angela's character is hilarious. Queue uninvited guests on Christmas day, lots of drinking/eating and a few festive arguments, and you have yourself the perfect rom-com book.

Now a bit different from the festive feel-good reads, but Adam Kay's Nightshift Before Christmas book is festive diaries from the author of This is Going to Hurt Adam's Kay. If you haven't read his first book, Adam Kay was a doctor for 6 years, and his books tell the stories confidentially of some of the patients he's worked with and on.  His Nightshift before Christmas book is filled with short anecdotes from his five years working through Christmas to New Years, he tells the tales of the ups and downs. It's an extremely short book, I finished mine in 2 days, but it's extremely witty, humorous and heart wrenching in some places, it's a must read.

One that's been floating around a lot is this book. Synopsis: Quinn and Minnie are born on New Year's Eve, in the same hospital, one minute apart. Their lives may begin together but their worlds couldn't be more different. Thirty years later they find themselves together again in the same place, at the same time. What if fate is trying to bring them together? Hailed as THE feel-good rom-com of 2020, it's the perfect pick-me-up.
