A Day Out in Whitstable

I've barely been to the British seaside, which is incredibly odd seeing as I absolutely LOVE being by the sea and day trips. So this weekend, my flatmate and I went off on a day trip to Whitstable, Kent for a bit of R&R fresh air.

We took the train from Victoria station early in the morning which was about an hour and a half, so all in all, from London Bridge took us about 2 hours to journey in which really wasn't that long. First things first, we headed down to the harbour to try and get our bearings of the place, Afterwards I actually ended up meeting up with an old colleague who moved to Whitstable for a cup of tea and catch-up up by the castle which was lovely.

We didn't have extensive plans in Whitstable, but instead just planned to meander. For lunch we headed to The Lobster Shack Whitstable . Between us we had a plate of scampi and chips and mushy peas (obvs) and chose the Chorizo Lobster with chips and did a bit of tapas sharing style. The scampi was delicious as was the mushy peas. Truth be told, the Lobster was a bit overcooked in the middle and whilst the claw meat was delicious, it was a bit of a shame seeing as it's well known for being a Lobster shack and the actual amount of meat wasn't massive either. I would suggest the scampi though 100% as it was delish.

After that we took a long walk down to Tankerton which has loads of gorgeous little beach huts and you could see so many people who had either rented them or visited their own celebrating birthdays in there which was just so lovely. After our long walk, we decided to head back into town, and get ourselves an ice cream. We went to Lottie's Sweeet Creams because it had such amazing variety, including Biscoff flavoured Ice Cream. Obviously I had to get a very extra Cookie Dough ice cream in a snazzy cone and we enjoyed it on the beach, albeit right before it chucked it down with rain.

We also headed down the highstreet where I couldn't not get a sale purchase from Joules! By 5pm we were ready to get back to London! I would love to go visit more seaside towns so if anyone has any must-go recommendations close to London please let me know in thee comments below!

Have you ever been to Whitstable?
