Keeping a Hydrating Base for Winter

[ad contains gifted products] The season where my skin changes the most dramatically has to be Winter, it's as if all the moisture in my skin is sucked out through the heating at home and the bitter cold outside. Therefore I make an extra effort in the Winter to add more and more moisture into my everyday routine once we hit this time of year.

Some of my staple favourites that I've raved about are no surprise here, but I hope if you suffer with dry skin, and need that extra boost of hydration, these might work for you!

Antipodes H20 Hydrating Water Gel* - This addition to my skincare is probably the main thing that I switch up during the winter time. Clinically shown to increase skin hydration by 53%, this is one of my favourites to add into my skin routine when I've added my oil to my routine.  I find this adds just that booster of hydration to my skin along with my usual moisturiser. It sinks in really well into my skin, and leaves it feeling a lot plumper and less dull looking

First Aid Beauty Moisturiser - No surprise here, this is my all year round go-to moisturiser. I won't ever change it, you can't convince my skin otherwise. It's such an easy go-to and I go through bottles and bottles of this stuff. I don't have necessarily super sensitive skin, but I have been known to break out or get allergic reactions to certain skincare, and although this is a super hydrating and thick moisturiser, I've never suffered anything with it. I actually just purchased a new giant tub as I knew I would go through much more in the Winter.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil  For someone with dry skin, adding an oil into your routine is a must. It's one of the ways to retain the natural moisture your skin products, and strengthens your skin barrier. I notice a massive difference in my skin (in a negative way) if I don't use this everyday. Whilst this is a pricier oil on the market, it's totally worth it. In the winter my dehydrated skin also gets a lot more texture and looks dull, but this oil just plumps my face back to normal.

Smashbox Primerizer Right before I start putting on any sort of foundation onto my skin, my new found favourite ever primer has to be this Smashbox one. A rave review and one of KathleenLights favourite primers, I had been desperate to try this for ages. Now, I can't go a day without wearing it on my skin if I'm wearing foundation. Not only does it hydrate the skin, but I really do think this helps with evening out my skin so that my foundation sits smoothly, and keeps it lasting all day. My one thing that I dislike, and it's a small one, is that it's in a glass bottle which just isn't super travel friendly for my Winter holibobs coming up, but it will 100% still be coming with me!

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist - After applying makeup, incase my skin wasn't filled with enough moisture, I love giving it a light spritz of this morphe mist. I try not to go too heavy with it, as much as my skin does love moisture, too much can lead to slippery makeup, but I love the extra glow this gives my face and even better, emphasises a little bit of my highlighter if I'm wearing any!

  1. That Morphe Mist is one of the most affordable on the market and so much better than some high end ones! I love the Antipodes & Kiehl's products too x

  4. The First Aid Beauty moisturiser sounds great! Especially if it's a good all-year-round product. I like simplicity when it comes to skincare so a product that would do a good job throughout the year sounds perfect to me!
    Happy Sunday!

  5. the smashbox primer and morphe setting spray are definitely in my to-try list, regardless if I have normal-combination and sensitive, acne-prone skin. I hope the primer isn't TOO greasy that it clogs my pores. I wonder if it can give me the same glowy base like MAC Fix+ or strobe cream

as for the morphe setting spray, I really just wanna try the spray (lol)
every time I see kathleen talks about it, I just go "I really wanna try that spray myself" because it always looks so smooth haha
